Buck Whittler Knife with Gift Box
Gift item...Very Pleased
Buck knives are fine quality. This one was no exception. I am very pleased with it. Some of the other US knife manufacturers have sent their manufacturing overseas. This knife is proudly made in the USA, as stated in their description. For this reason, I would strongly recommend Buck.

Great value for a solid whittler
I've had a few Lancers in my day. Lose them before I wear them out. Love 'em. The whittler is just a little better. My opinion, gotta have a clip blade for the main blade. Good for field surgery, etc. Coping blade great for scoring & marking. Pen blade makes a decent emergency phillips head screw driver. Can't beat Buck for quality & value. My opinion, keep the wooden box and offer better steel for a couple bucks more. 420 HC is good, but 154 CM has been around for what, 10-15 years? Why isn't that the standard blade steel by now? Sharpen it less often.

The Buck whittler pocketknife seems to be a good choice . It was sharp right out of the box . It feels good in my hand and is a good whittling tool . The box it came in however was shipped with a chip out of one corner with the chip missing from the packaging . It seems that it was packaged with the chip missing . I would have much rather have gotten a sharpening stone or strop instead of a wooden box .

Not typical today
This little knife is a style that was once found in everyones pocket. It sharpened pencils, made shavings, cut up an apple, and even carved sometimes. In the world of today it still can do these things and it's too bad knives like this are not carried more often. A solid product great as a graduation gift and that will still serve well when the student becomes the grandpa.
