ASAP Technology™ from Buck® provides the ultimate in one-handed operation knives. To open, release the safety, then push the blade release ridge. After the blade starts opening, the assisted opening mechanism completes the blade opening and releases a ''liner lock'' to lock the blade open. To close, you simply push left on the front of the liner lock to release the lock, close the blade, and engage the safety on top of the handle. This two-stage action of Buck's ASAP Technology offers a higher level of safety than automatic knives by preventing more unintended blade openings.

i have had this knife for several years, it worked great and has held up well... except that a year or so ago, i dont even know how it happened but i opened my knife one day and the very tip (about 1/8") was gone! dont know how it happened. i am pretty good to my knives and have 30 or 40 and i cant figure out how it happened. other than this i love the knife..

I bought this knife six or seven years ago, and carry/use and abuse it every day. I've used it as a hammer, dropped it SEVERAL times, left it outside in the weather, field dressed wild game with it, cut A LOT of very thick cardboard with it a couple of times a week, and use it for countless other things. After all of the abuse, the snap continues to stay tight, and it holds a GREAT edge! The ASAP feature is also great for one-handed operation! By far the best money I've spent in a long time! Of course, when I bought mine, they were only $35; but it has proved to be well worth at least twice that!
