Excellent Travel Rod
I purchased this rod to use in Alaska fishing for red, silver and pink salmon. I mate the rod with a Garcia bait casting reel and use 17-20 lb mono line. It can handle 8-15 lb salmon in the fast moning waters of the Keni River. The case it came in also holds my 4 piece 9ft., 8 weight fly rod that I use to do the "Keni Flip" when fishing for Reds.

No problems with the rod, I like what I finally got. Originally I ordered the wrong rod and decided after receiving that I really needed the smaller, less stiff version. I did not have time to return the original then receive the replacement before leaving on a trip. I called up Bass Pro ordered and paid for the right rod then sent the original back for credit. Bass Pro paid for the shipping and I received credit in a prompt fashion. It was an easy and painless transaction.

I bought this rod to take on an Alaska trip. On the second Grayling, 6 " of the rod tip broke. I expected a lot more for the price.

Best Travel Rod for the Money
Over the last few years, my wife and I have purchased 7 of these rods and my son has purchased 4. We have never been disappointed with any of them.
My wife, son and I have fished in the Amazon for Peacock Bass multiple times, and these rods held up extremely well. I always carry on my rods and reels so the airlines can't lose them and the rod case size fits easily in an overhead bin.
On the 7' MH spinning rod, I landed my biggest Peacock Bass ever, 21 1/2 lbs. My wife landed a 20 lb. Peacock on the 7 ft. Med rod. We have never had them come apart while fighting those big fish.
This past January, I landed a monster 46 lb. Golden Dorado on the 7 ft. Hvy Casting Rod in Uruguay. The rod did an outstanding job getting this incredible fighting fish to the boat after a 25 minute battle.
The only bad news is that on our last trip to Mexico bass fishing (11/2011), we had all of our rods, reels and tackle stolen. We lost 7 of these rods, 4 spinning and 3 casting. Hopefully as promised, the lodge will replace them and I know that I replace them with exactly the same models.
