Browning Fishing Superlight Spinning Reel
Excellent Value UL Reel
I bought this reel to use with 4 pound test line and an ultralight rod mostly for panfishing. Liked the weight and the looks, but certainly didn't expect the level of performance. Last Sunday, fishing a small farm pond, I hooked and landed a five pound plus largemouth on my second cast. The drag worked perfectly - smooth, no sticking or stuttering whatsoever. If you are a fan of ultralight fishing, you cannot beat the value and performance of this little reel. Liked it so well, I went to my local Bass Pro Shop today and bought a second.

Pass on this..
Bought this since they didn't have the reel I came in for. I used it a couple times with no issues, besides the fact it wasn't smooth at all and seemed to get line twists constantly. A couple months later while reeling in a fish, the handle falls apart. I rig on one off a sparereel and keep using it. Then last week, after about 10 minutes of fishing, the bail stops closing...

I bought this reel (BSL500C) to replace a very old AG that I use for ultra-lite Bass and Bluegill fishing. I use 2 pound line and a 5' BPS ultra-lite rod. This reel is very smooth. Casts great.
The thing that really surprised me is the line handling. With this light line it is not uncommon to have problems in this area. This reel controlled the line very well.
Highly recommended for ultra-lite.

Looks good but does not perform
Decided to get this reel based on the look, which is sadly the only positive. Got it for trout reel, and there was no smoothness whatever. Felt like I had to crank hard with only a roostertail on. There was also bad finish on the spool which cause shaving, grinding noise every time on full rotation. Maybe I had a defective one. I'll spend a little more and get a better reel.
