Rated 4 out of 5 by Excellent 'Go-to' rod for all around use I have been using this rod on the great lakes with 35 lb braid for all types of fishing (jigging/casting/trolling) for almost two years and I love it. Does great with large chrome and salmon. It's also very sensitive for walleye fishing. Durability wise.. no complaints.. On a bad snag I've pulled my entire boat up the Detroit river against 5mph current with it.. the rod went u shaped and held up perfect right up until the 35 lb braid snapped. May 11, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect for me Have all others. Wanted one of this one. Don't tell my husband. March 9, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Weak Had a similar experience as perchfillet. Bought the 8'6" M for casting crankbaits for king salmon. Used it for one weekend and landed six fish and thought it held up good. Next trip, the rod tip snapped off in 45 minutes. Will be replacing with something better quality. September 27, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by superb! Using it for sea trouting which requires very long casts and this rod is fantastic. Excellent feel! April 18, 2013

Don't know if you have any answers yet. I matched with a Pfluger 6735X. It works beatifully. The rod tip is a tab bit heavy, but put the butt between upper arm and ribs and it handles easily. Hope this helps.

There are four sizes of Sienna reel. If using one of the larger two sizes reel, you'd probably want to use the MH rod.

It would be ok -- you may want to consider the longer rods 38-151-830-00 and 38-151-832-00 as the additional length will help get you more distance on your cast.

A:
It is a great rod. I would use a Braided line for steelhead, because you can get a heavier line and it won't break on you.
