Rated 5 out of 5 by Yoda72 Great Rod, But...
I use this rod for mostly "float" fishing with a center pin reel and #4 line. Everything works great, the only problem is thats it a 2 pieces rod, ( so it can be hard to out into the car at the end of the day). Better it be a 4 piece.

I own one of the older 10' 6" models that I purchased for an unbeleivable steal of 39.99 on clearance just before the current model came out.It was the best 40 bucks I ever spent..With the addition of a handle weight kit it is one of my favorite all around rods. With 4 to 8 lb. test you can cast a mile. I use it all the time for anything from bluegills and crappies to largemouth bass , northern pike, salmon, trout and even carp. I absolutley love this rod. If you would like to experience the thrill of a fly rod but with the ease of a spinning rig I would highly recommend this one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by AlleghenyHighlander Maybe a little too slow.
I have 9'6" version, which features the shortest handle. I think a longer handle would be more desirable on this rod, even if you're not fighting the big ones, it would help you hold the rod under your elbow as you drift and retrieve.
I can tell this would make a fine drift rod for steelhead but I was hoping to employ it as an ultralight drift/ spinning rod for trout in small streams.
So my big complaint is the action is too slow for a good stop-and-go retrieve like you'd use with a crawdad lure.
***If you expect to use a lure with this rod I'd recommend a reel with an extra-fast retrieval rate to make up for the lag-time the slow tip gives you.*****
I gave 4 stars because this rod has an excellent finish and it casts very accurately with little effort on my part. It casts well side-armed, and casts a 1/4oz lure further than any other rod I own. It the action were a bit faster I would like it more.
