I paired a 6', med., fast action rod with the Quantum smoke 30 and loved it. I have 2 of these rods now, plus 2 6'6" med.hvy. fast action, and 1 6'6" med.hvy fast action baitcaster. I've had a couple of them a few yrs. and am still happy.

For the price point, this rod probably holds up to the big boys. Strong, light weight and very sensitive. I bought the 6'6" M/F spinning rod as my finesse rod and could feel a bass sneeze a mile away on 8lb mono. Landed some good sized fish on it.
There is nothing high tech about the handle, or the saddle. It is kind of an old-school style, but that is what I prefer. I feel it is just as sensitive as split grips and the open saddle style.
It also looks classy, especially paired up with a classy reel. Kind of old-time looking, but performs like a modern rod.

Read a few good reviews and some poor reviews on thes rods, but I like the handles on these better than the newer versions of spinning rod handles. Would like to see these rods last for around 5 years. The features on these rods is everything that I desire .

I have a Madallion rod I purchased about a year and a half ago. It is a 2 piece rod. I broke the upper section and can't get it repaired or a new upper section. I contacted Browning rods and was told they no longer made the rod I have and don't have anything to fit it. I don't recommend this rod . The rod doesn't have good durability.

They should handle braid just fine. The spinning rod has the same brand guides with the same material as the trigger rod. I use braid on my Medallion trigger rods.A:Â
