Rated 5 out of 5 Best Pump ever made
This BPS is the best shooting, handling gun you will ever own. It swings and points and shoots better than any gun I have ever owned. The bottom eject makes hunting in a duck blind easy because you can position yourself anywhere and don't have to worry about hitting your buddies with spent shells. I own 5 of these from .410 all the way up to 12 ga 3 1/2 MODB. I have had my primary BPS for over 8 years now and its will last throughout my life and my son's. Trust me, buy a BPS and you will never have to buy another shotgun again. Period. Over 200 ducks, 20 deer and who knows how many other game, this gun works!

I owned a BPS 12g 28" a few years back. I sold it and regret doing it. Thankfully you can still buy them.
These guns have the most beatiful blueing you have ever seen. Like a mirror. The action is smooth as glass. I hunted rabitt w/ my buddy on several occasions. He carried a Beretta auto. I could, and routinely did, get off multiple shots before he could.
The BPS is not an expensive shotgun. but it looks, feels and shoots like one costing far more. Actually, more expensive guns I would take a pass on. I will own one again someday soon.

This is a well built shotgun that I have never had any issues with. Used it for turkey, waterfowl, upland birds, and sporting clays. The bottom eject is also nice since I am left handed and my son is right handed. We can both use it and neither of us has to worry about ejecting shells flying in front of our face.

I have an older model (at least 20 years old) BPS 12 guage. There is a lever just at the back base of the pump handle I can't figure out it's purpose. It has 2 letters (positions): "S" & "R".The lever flips to either of those positions, but I can't seem to find any info online regarding what it's purpose is. I was given this gun as a child and never really bothered with that lever until now.
What does this lever do?

That's the magazine cut-off. It allows you to eject a shell without feeding another from the magazine. You can then manually load a single shell. For instance, if your magazine is loaded for duck hunting and you see an opportune goose, you can change to a different load for a single shot without having to cycle through your entire magazine to load different shot.1 of 1
