Combining the appeal of a traditional lever action rifle with Browning handling and a little rimfire fun, the Browning BL-22 Grade II Rifle is always ready to take on a walk in the woods, knock over a few tin cans or even put some dinner on the table. A beautiful 20'', blued steel barrel and gloss American walnut stock finish make the BL-22 Grade II stand apart from the rest. The rifle's tubular magazine, gold-colored trigger, and adjustable sights round out this quality gun. Grooved receiver for scope mounts.

Best Open Sight .22 I've owned one of these for over 20 years. It's been shot so much the blue is worn off the reciever and I've refinished the stock once. It's the most accurate .22 open sight rifle I've owned. I just wish it was a .22 Mag. January 15, 2014
Would be much better if price was lower OK about 6-8 months prior to this posting Bass Pro had the Marlin 39AS "on sale". I went directly to my nearest Bass Pro right after work to get one but not only did they not have one but they couldn't get one. They took Marlin 39AS off their web site immediately after that so I used the $200 gift card I had to purchase the BL-22. After shooting a wide variety of makes/loads of 22s through it (from cheap to most expensive) I called Browning to see if they could do something to improve the accuracy. They told me if it shoots within 2" at 50 yards with a scope (and of course using a lead sled), don't send it back as this is acceptable for a lever action rifle!!! I have 3 Marlin 60s from as old as 40+ years to a little over a year old that will all shoot 1" groups at 100 yards. Semi automatics are SUPPOSE to be the least accurate of any of the actions!!! I bought a used Marlin 39A several months ago and that rifle will shoot tighter groups than the 60s! Save your money and frustrations and get an old Marlin 39A. January 26, 2015
None Better! I've owned lots of 22 cal. lever guns. And you hear all the stories! Oh this ones a nail driver! Oh this ones easy take down to clean! Blah! Blah! Well this little rifle you don't need to take down to clean. Infact Browning does'nt advise it! Lever guns don't get dirty like semi-autos! If and that is the question IF! This rifle fits you, ,this rifle is the best 22 cal. lr levergun made period! January 28, 2014
Great gun! I have had this gun now for 3 years. I recieved it as a gift and I love it. The finishes on these guns are excellent. The short lever throw makes for quick easy shooting. This gun is my finest by far. May 10, 2012

A:
No, this rifle is 22 short, long or long rifle only. I would strongly recommend NOT buying the BL-22. Get a Henry or if $600 is your budget for a lever action, get a used Marlin 39A. You will be much happier.

This is .22 LR, but it will also chamber and shoot .22 Short. I don't think Browning ever chambered one for the 22 WMR, but that would be cool!
