Rated 1 out of 5 by Browning BSL-5 Superlite Love this combo but line tangles sometimes right in front of spool when casting,my son and two grandsons have same problem with their reels,I changed the line several times but didn't help. June 3, 2006
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice For The Price! Picked up the 5'2" combo at the GREAT sale price for my young nephew to use on trout. Was really surprised at the quality when it arrived. The rod is a very nicely built, IM6 blank with nice wrappings, cork handle, and a hook holder. The reel seat has some plastic parts, but should last. Great action and nice casts with lighter lures (1/32 oz.) or a single split shot and bait. I wish the guide inserts were ceramic, but the stainless steel inserts should hold up just fine. The reel performed flawlessly. Very smooth operation all around (reeling, bail, drag). Solid anti reverse. At the sale price, it was a terrific combo bargain for stream trout fishing! May 23, 2006
Rated 5 out of 5 by Browning Superlight IM6 Graphite Matrix The action and durability of this lie weight combo is fantastic.Using 6lb test a few weeks ago, TWO Largemouths did'nt stand a chance. The old saying big things come in small packages is what I have to say about this rod & reel combo. Now I have convinced my son on light tackle fishing. May 16, 2006
Rated 4 out of 5 by Smooth and strong I love fishing with this combo. The reel is very smooth and the rod is light, but strong. You can cast all day without wearing yourself out and you've never had so much fun landing a 2 pound fish. Two months after I bought it, I bought another, just in case it is ever discontinued. A:
The difference between the two models is that BSL495UL has a rod that is 4'9" whereas the BSL525UL has a rod that is 5' 2".

A:
I can not speak for this rod model but from every rod I have bought from BPS the last numbers would be the height, so the BSL495UL would be Bass Pro Line 4.95 ft Ultra light model, the other would be 5.25ft ultra light model, go with the 5.25 In my humble opinion. both will catch fish. Good Luck

Yes, you can remove the handle by loosening the screw on the opposite side, then reverse the positions of the handle and the screw, then it will be left handed.

i dont know that you can get one but my recommendation is that you try calling or going to bps and ask a reliable employee and the fishing department for some aid or if that doesnt work ry customer service but first go to the experts

I'm trying to become a more all around angler, and finnese fishing is something I need to improve on. I haven't even tried anything finnese other than the occasional drop shot. If this is not the best please keep your recommendations under $80. I'm a begginer finnese fisherman. I'll get more expensive as i get better.

i might be very hesitant to use this for any other than panfish. the tip is VERY light and in addition not stiff enough to give you a good bass hookset it might actually break off on larger fish- i have heard of this happening

i love that your trying to improve yuor angling status
finesse fishing changed and improved my love for the sport just a couple of years ago
this is a great combo for fish no bigger than 16inches or itll bust
with this it is good for river fishing and smaller lakes and ponds with alot of fun
although something all around finesse that you may enjoy more is the pflueger gx-7 combo 5'6" light or up considerin g what your using
and try using the xts speed lure 1 5/8 inch for finesse fishing streams rivers and some ponds itll produce
lots o fun and wish you luck

Perfect Combo for the finnese fisherman. Very sensitive with some backbone to bring in the fish. I recommend the 6' Combo for more of what it will take to bring in the bif ones.

This is a very nice combo. I can tell you that expensive is not always the best product and that depends on what your trying to do.Try this combo with light crank baits, I think you will use it a lot.

I wouldn't have this combo for a 6 yr. old, I would recommend a shorter rod. Don't remember the spool cap. but I put 4lb. line on mine. I would have to go outside to look, but I think 8lb was max rec. size.

Very easy to use, lightwieght and cranks very smooth. It is open face so a little more complicated to operate, but very easy to cast and reel in. The only negative is no trigger grip.
