I have used an AMS reel for 6+ years. Have had really good luck with it. Brought in several large buffalo carp when I could and lots of smaller carp too. Noticed the line works best when it is wet and dirty. If it gets a little knot coming back, I just pull out the line a little and it straightens right out. For some reason the line started coming out the bottom before the bottle so I looked at my operations booklet that came with it and it said to adjust the reel. 2 minutes, I had it working good as before. Overall I think I got my money's worth and then some.

I was so excited about makin this purchase. I've been active in the sport for almost 10 years now, but wanted to get serious, so I bought the "top of the line." I was sceptical because messin around in the yard, the reel would feed line through the bottom of the crank due to the line filling up the bottle. I had to remove the bottle and pack the line down by hand 3 different times. Also, when I was pulling the retrieval lever, I had a buddy pull the string to simulate a fish. After a few seconds of reeling against him, the line would slide off the rubber wheel, I had no control from then on. Well I took it out Saturday for the first time. It was no time and had layed into my first sting ray. The fight was on right out of the gate, and the AMS retreiver gave ZERO resistance. The ray ran out all the string and I had to hand land all the the line and ended up losin the ray. So I was left angry and had 30 yards of string tangled up throughout the bottom of the boat. The retreiver is packed up and headin back to bass pro.

this was very easy to use once i got used to it. I have one set up on a recurve and one on a compound. they both work great but the first one took a little getting use to because of having to pull the trigger to retrieve the arrow/fish

I purchased this item early this spring and put it to the test. Every free night I would hit the lake and see what kind of carp I could bring in just to put this reel to the test. I found it to work extremely well on even very large carp and gar. This is a must have for any bow fisherman.
