This is the first time i have ever used this type of bait so i was a little skeptical at first. My skepticism was quickly erased though after my first few casts. It definitely does work. I fish out of a 14 foot rowboat with trolling motor in a smaller lake/pond which hold nice smallmount, largemouth, pickerel, crappie and catfish. While waiting for my fishing partner to get the boat i fished off the dock with a jigging/jerking technigue off bottom and got 2 good size largemouth. I was using the white.chartruese with gold blade. Caught a few pickeral and another smallmouth out on the boat. The only negative is the wire coming off the head where the blade connects to seems very flimsy and could potentially break.

Booyah Chatterbaits perform great. Caught a 5 lb Smallie first time using. Looks good and good quality parts.

i use mine mostly as a flipping jig and fish seem to love it. the only problem seems to be the spring hook seems to make it harder for a good hook.

I have written about these baits before, but thought I'd do an update. Lately, I have taken to customizing my Boogie baits with a Do-It® Living Image® Silicone Skirt in Camo and a customized BPS Cajun Trailer in Pumpkin/Chartreuse. It is a great bait for cloudy days or at night. I've nailed bass up to 6 pounds on them, and even had a few Catfish over 10 pounds nail 'em, too. The fish really slam these when they hit, so hold on!
My only complaint still, and the reason it only gets four stars, is that the paint on the jighead chips off very easily when it is casted into any type of structure. Not a big deal with the white colored heads since the underneath material is also white. But with the darker colors you will need to repaint them often.
Overall, though, this will catch fish. The flash of the spinner, the vibration, and the profile combine to make a powerful bait. The YUM trailers are good. But, don't be afraid to experiment with some of your other favorite trailers. Frogs seem to work very well, as do the BPS Cajun Trailers.

i think it works as well or better but i personaly like the look of it better then chatterbaitsA:Â
I noticed you can achieve a shallower retrieve with the boogee, it will leave a nice wake as you retrieve at a slower pace than the chatter bait. I found this retrieve to produce more strikes!Images for this Answer

I honestly prefer the boogee bait over the chatterbait. I feel like the head adds realism on the boogee bait, and the skirts are betterAnswers

tie it right on to the claspA:Â
The best way that I have found to rig a boogie bait is to tie directly to the bait on 10 to 12 pound test with either spinning or casting gear with a 5:1 or 6:2 ratio it is best used swimming slowTop 1000 Contributor

I have always used the palomar knot tied directly to the lure although the fish-n-fool knot is supposed to be as good or better and requires a little less line. Both work well with any type of line and both can be looked up on the interenet to learn how to tie. I do not feel that tied directly to the lure interferes with the action as it is, by it's design, somewhat an aggressive action.Details:Â
Would this bait still be effective with out the yum trailer? or with a different type of trailer?Answers

Yes! Actually when you buy the boogie bait it comes with 2 yum boogie tails...Other trailers work also...as well as other colors...I bought enough boogie baits in every color each with different color combo of trailers..Top 500 Contributor

I can say that I have fished this bait with the included boogee trailers as well as without, I find it an effective bait regardless. I have also experimented with great success using chunk trailers as well as cutting either end off of a Yum Gonzo creature bait. The possibilities are endless.A:Â
I frequently use the boogie bait without the trailer and catch just as many large smallmouth as I do with the trailer. My favorite and the fishes favorite is the Alpine with a 4 inch cajun trailerTop 1000 Contributor

I have found that without the trailer the bait will run deeper (and catch fish). Conversely, shallower with the trailer (and catch fish). Experimentation with a different trailer could prove effective as long as it doesn't interfere with the baits designed action.A:Â
If you call taking 7 bass within a 3 hour period without the trailer effective then the answer is yes.Images for this Answer
