I've never used jigs before but after hearing so much about them and how they produce big bass I decided to get a couple. I got the Boo Jig in 3/8 ounce, all black...I trimmed the skirt in front to be more like a finesse jig and did a little uneven trimming to the back of the skirt just so it didnt look too uniform...
Put this on my 7' MH smoke rod with a PT100 smoke BC reel...12lb mono...and a strike king rage craw as the trailer
Earlier I had tossed a few different bait into this good looking spot but nothing bit. Then I tossed this, on my 2nd cast I felt a lightweight sensation, my line started slowly moving off sideways...so I set the hook....and then I felt the heavy pull and set the hook again with two hands for good measure and the fight was on! See pic of the catch (4.51lbs)
These jigs definitely perform, and they catch big bass! Hooks are good quality, weedguard is robust but not restrictive on hook sets, skirt isnt skimpy, good color selection though I wish BPS carried an all black version like I use.
Definitely an awesome lure, will be buying more soon. Get your arms ready cuz you'll be haulin big ones with these

I Like Booyah Jigs More than any other but The weedless wires fall out to east. I use a little Fly Tie Glue and Touch them up after a hard use. But other than that they last.

Brisles that make them weedless fell out after first use. Might have been fluke. Shouldnt have happened.

I strongly reccomend super glue rattles prior to use. If you are punching grass, the rattles will come off. If you are fighting a fish, these rattles will come off. There are to many jig manufacturers out there for me to recommend this jig. However Booyah buzzbaits are excellent.

I'm on a tight budget, and most of the football head jigs are a little bit more expensive than I can afford, so I'm wondering if this'll stand the hook up as well as a football head jig.

hold up fine just watch the rattle. glue it on or it will fall off.

i believe it does. it has a heavy hook and i have always gotten good sets with it. the only thing negative i can say about this is that the rattles fall off with every fish. so now i swap out the rattle band and they work great. the craw pattern is my go to bait. i use the 5/8 and 3/4 oz. also won't get hung up as much as a footballA:Â

You get what you pay for when it comes to fishing! The hook dose stand up in the water. I have used both the foot ball ( strike king ) and the boo jig. I catch bigger fish on this jig over the football.The football is good but this one to me is better. I use this jig year round. And have won a bass durby with the largest SMB .Images for this Answer

It will stand up but the design is not as advantageous for coming through rocks. I like to flip or pitch it into grass, holes in the grass or outside/inside weed lines. Count down the fall and compare the depth; often Bass will inhale before it can reach bottom and you will want to set the hook ASAP.

They don't stand up on the bottom nearly as well as a football head jig because the head is more narrow. It will stand up for a little while on the bottom, but will soon fall on it's side, especially if you are dragging it on and over rocks. Hope this helps.Details:Â

absolutely.the slipper type head pulls through the mats and less hangups on brushes . but i use at least 5/8-3/4 oz for that with a craw trailer, berkley green pumpkin chigger chunk, or the new F2 money craw with a 1/4 inch cut off also in green pumpkin. flip and swim through grass, or find a good drop off from 2-4ft down to 20ft and hopp it till you find the depth they are at. heavy jig will help you feel the bottom terrain betterA:Â

i was using the white in clear water. while green pumpkin worked in clear and stained for me last year.A:Â
If you match the hatch you will catch fish with this jig I use green pumpkin in all water clear or stained. The green color matches every thing the bass see's every day.A:Â
depending on what color your foliage is, green foliage then go with a green skirt. olive is ideal for playing hide and seek with bass if you have some sort of noise maker on it

i like the green heads. as for clear water, your gonna want to mimic the real thing as well as you can. i recomend a berkley chigger craw power bait. in warm waterA:Â

This jig is meant to mimic a crawfish so the best color would be the one that mimics the color of your local craws. I like the black / brown spice (#21) and the emerald / brown spice (#22) in clear water. For stained I like them a bit flashier: black / red (#13) or watermelon / red (#14).Details:Â

My best bet would be to swim it around brush or grass.A:Â
What i do is throw the jig out let it hit the bottom, shake it twice, pop it off the bottow twice, and then slow retrieve in with rod tip up. I caught several hawgs just on the swim back. I have never caught one by jigging it on the bottom. Also the biggest bass i caught with this jig was 7 1/2 pounds just by swimming it a foot off the bank. I use 1/2 for the swimming technique i feel it gives me better control and i use 1/4 for the toss and let it fall techniqueA:Â
I fish this jig in every way you can think of. Overhangs, Logs, Pads, Veg and docks.A:Â
All are good you have to let the bass tell you what they want!

i hop it ,but you can use all methods. see what catches fish and remember what you did. also depending what fish are doing. i've let it set in a nest when sight fishing and jiggled it till the fish picked it up. i've caught bass doing it all waysA:Â
