rust I have worked with good hand tools for over thirty years and these are not them. "Chrome-plated stainless steel construction Non-slip grips" They must be ultra low grade stainless because they rust really bad (9 mos.). The grips slide off the finger lever when pressure is applied due to the lever angle, but don't worry, after they rust it will stay on. The spring rusted away - gone! The leverage is not as good as claimed and has a hard time removing hook from grouper. If you glue on the grips, wash and oil after every use, they may be OK. August 14, 2013
Excellent design & function I fish in a private SC lake heavily populated w alligators who have learned that the "splash" of a LM bass means " BREAKFAST!". I bought these specifically to allow that extra little margin of safety when they ('gators) are near by and I can't "lip" my catch...I can reach my fish, seated in my jon boat, w ease. The angled design/ balance are very comfortable and the length is excellent for deep hook removal. I have had this tool for ten months, used rain & shine, with no signs of the rust mentioned elsewhere. August 28, 2010
rust bucket I was looking for a usable pair of corrosion proof pliers for general hook removal. The design is good and they worked well for a week. These are advertised as nichol plated stainless steel- so they shouldn't rust - wrong. They literally rusted shut and I now have a very large rust stain on my white fiberglass skiff. I wouldn"t recommend these if you intend to use them in saltwater, in fact they rusted so quickly I'm sure they would rust in freshwater. I rinse all of my gear every time I return from fishing. NOT stainless steel They are advertised as chrome-plated stainless steel construction, and that is what is printed on their packaging. That's why I purchased them. On my first day of Grouper fishing with them, rust was forming on them before I even got back to the dock. The design of mine (11.5" model) is perfect, and exactly as I needed, but the quality is JUNK for saltwater fishing. July 15, 2014
