I ordered these files more out of curiosity than need. They are a bit on the course side for fine honing, but quickly removes kicks without having to grind them, and possible burn the knife edge. A light touch uf with a fine or Arkansas stone is all that is needed for fine work. An added benefit that I discovered is using them for woodworking. the shapes are ideal for some carvings and don't need cleaning as often as rasps and files do. A handy size, not too big and not too small, A good buy.
