  • Ideal panfish bait
  • Ribbed, solid body
  • Thin, spear-shaped tail
When it's time to get tough on the slabs, Bobby Garland's Slab Slay'r crappie bait is the way to go. Offering the perfect combination of a ribbed but solid body and a thin spear-shaped tail, the Slab Slay'r's dancing action has an amazing ability to entice lethargic crappie to bite. The Slab Slay'r is also popular and effective for panfish.

Rated 5 out of 5 New Fav Crappie Bait I have used the Garland series of baby shad baits and the albino baby shad has been my favorite for years, but the 3 inch chartreuse and black or blue (Junebug) SlayR have become my new favorite, especially the 3 inch variety. I fish them slow and on the drop often get hit. I may not get quite as many hits, but the key is that they catch bigger fish and I get keepers faster, with several over 15 inches. I also have trolled them with success and when they get worn, I cut a little off the top and reuse them as 2 inch or 2.5 inch baits with about the same effectiveness. Recently I was fishing and catching some nice crappie and a guy in another boat asked me what I was using. He wasn't catching any keepers. I gave him several of the SlayR's and he went on his way. I saw him 2 hours later and he had a big grin on his face. He had caught his limit. Be patient and they will work for bigger crappie. March 20, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Crappie Jig These jigs are very high quality. I can catch 100 or more crappies without the jig having the slightest of tare. Some of the best colors I have ever used. I realy like the new "Love Bug" color for fishing in late winter. Great Jigs, I would recomend these to anywone looking for a DYNAMITE bait. February 19, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by great color great color. very soft.crappie likes them.will buy again May 18, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by durable I really started using these this summer. When I used to fish for bass more, I became increasingly disgusted with soft plastics. These seem a better quality. September 13, 2011

A:
I start out with the open tail up and then if the bait gets worn turn it around so the hook is in fresh rubber. I have caught fish either way, but feel open tail up is best. I fish them slow and find ways to let it drop or even suspend at the bottom of the drop. I get hit the most on the drop or at the bottom of the drop when I let it set for several seconds. I also troll them with success, very slow and use the speed of the troll to keep the jig at the best depth for that day/location. I rarely bounce them off the bottom unless I am fishing for bass or catfish and have caught both using that method.
