Tempress BoatMates Stainless Steel Rod Racks
These are the best built on the market. Stay away from all aluminum makes on which the horizontal brackets do not extend well beyond the tubular holder &/or have a shallow vertical slot for holding a spinning reel base. The makes built like this will cut your legs to pieces. This is especially true on makes without plastic inserts in the top end of the tube. Even on these...AVOID using the built-in lure holders unless you don't mind having hooks stuck in your legs.

My boat capsized this past summer 650 miles down Baja in the Sea of Cortez... very few things survived, but my 2 dual rod boat mates did and were no worse for the experience... I have two on the inside back of my 19 foot bayrunner baja and they are very handy when you are solo fishing and just put fish on the deck as a place to put your rod so you can deal with the fish! excellent quality for the $$$ - Also store a pair of stainless multi-purpose pliers and bait knife in each one so everyone has easy access no matter what side of the boat their on... Just wish they came with stainless screws and nuts and not just the sheet metal screws... My boat is back together now - see you on the water!

The ereel solution
I have gone through several plastic rod holders over the years. They are cheap and figured they would work just fine-WRONG. The cheapie plastic is not UV stable so in a few months of use and banging around on the boat and they chip and break. These SS holders look great and will hold up for years in any sunny or salty environment. I should have gone to these a long time ago. Not much more anyway. In fact less over time.
