RodBuckle
Designed by fishermen for fishermen, the RodBuckle Retractable Rod Hold-Down System is the most attractive and functional rod hold-down system on the market for deck style fishing boats. The self-retracting polyester strap extends a full 24'' and securely locks into position on the deck. The PVC extrusion coated strap grips rods and resists hook penetration. When not in use, it neatly retracts out of the way. Easy installation with mounting template included.

Top Deck Mount Adapter
The top deck adapter (sold separately) can be mounted directly to the deck, without cutting into the gunwale.

Concealed Mounting Kit
The concealed mounting kit (sold separately) offers the option of mounting the retractor inside of the gunwale.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Boat buckle rod hold down takes about a minute to install with the mount adapter. no hole to cut, just screw down and you are ready to go. Great Product May 10, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great purchase I have a Bass Tracker 170 tx, it was a pain to store my rods in the locker and get them in and out through out a day of fishing. The 170 tx is just not big enough, so these straps have been easy to put in and great to use. Don't know about the longevity? May 3, 2011

Rated 5 out of 5 by A must have! Great product...saves valuable rods/reels and saves tangle removal time. Check screws occassionally, had one of these come out when I was pulling it out and it almost took my head off. October 24, 2010

If you want to flush mount this into your boat then you will have to do some cutting on the boat. But it is really easy with the right tools. If you do not want to flush mount it, they sell brackets that screw down to the deck.

if you have a glass boat and your gunale is at least 3" above the floor then it can be flush mounted. If you don't want to cut a large hole in the gunale than purchase the adaptor to surface mount with 2 screws.

It can mount to the side of the boat, or with the adaptor it'll mount to the deck, as I used it. It's a complete unit.

The rod buckle comes with everything you nee to mount it flush into the side board of your boat. Or there is an optional bracket to screw down to the deck with no cutting required.

It comes ready to install flush with the interior side of your boat. To install it as it comes, you must cut out a hole. A surface mount kit is available that allows installation with just two screw holes, but it will stick out about 1.5 inches or so.

Pretty easy, you have to cut into the deck, it would be good to find your specs before you drill so you're not hitting anything but it was easy for me with my bass tracker 170 tx

Has an available adapter if you don't want in flush mounted, this may help you.

On a tracker you will need an adapter (~$7) to mount to the gunwale. I mounted mine flush in the deck between the fiberglass and the rod boxes on my Nitro. Works great.
