Rated 4 out of 5 by Awesome!!! Great product. I used them under the side shelves in my jetboat. Everything is out of sight and out of mind. Even when jumping rock ledges and running whitewater my rods are safe and sound. Love em and would buy them again. May 29, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by Works well overhead I use this to ceiling mount rods in the garage and it does a very good job. One-handed action is nice. July 22, 2007

Yes but the holders come 2 to a package. You will need 1 package per heavy saltwater rod. Use the big holders as the holder for the rod tip might not be big enough.

NO they cannot handle the weight. Wasted my money on this holder. Place a salt water rod in it, be prepared to lose it over the side!

Probably some of the round handle plastic type could be. Not the oval wood ones.

The latch end for the rod butt end would probably work well. The rod tip end will definitely not work. I never measured the actual ID of the latch end but they are certainly over 1 inch in diameter. They have enough room for my aluminum shaft paddles I carry on my boat. For the price they would be worth trying.
