I originally had planned to purchase a Solo stove but bass Pro did not carry it and I had several hundred dollars worth of BP gift cards. I bought this a week before a 5 day hike in Baxter State Park. I tried it out in my backyard before I left and it seemed to work well but my hiking partners were all giving me a hard time, thinking it was some sort of toy. Although I was originally skeptical of the thermo generator I have to say now that the fan unit makes this stove heat like a hot torch within minutes of lighting it up. Having the ability to also charge up my GPS with this charger was also a big plus. My buddies were impressed.

I bought this stove yesterday and I couldn't wait to fire it up this morning. First let me say that this stove was east to start, I just followed the instructions. Before I started the stove I walked through the yard for five minutes gathering twigs and sticks up the diameter of my thumb. That was enough wood to burn this stove on high for 2.5 hours! I think that's pretty efficient! I cooked my breakfast on the stove (sausage and eggs) with no issues.
The ONLY drawback I have found with this stove is that you will smudge your cookware. This can be minimized by cooking only after you are down to coals. Most people who cook over wood understand you will smudge your cookware.
I also connected my Samsung Galaxy S3 to the stove and it brought my charge from 82% to 98%. I found that of you let the stove get low on fuel the system stops charging through the USB port and sends the power to the blower for the stove. As long as you understand that, it's fine. After all, I bought the stove to cook food, not charge the phone.
The stove is a little on the heavy side compared to a gas stove. But the stove is comparable to the weight of a gas stove and the fuel to operate it, so that evens out.
After my initial experience with the stove, I think it's a great product and it very easy to use. I would recommend this product to any camper or to anyone who wants to put it in an emergency kit.

This product has more than one use. It provide a mean to heat, cook and charge electronic devices. Let say power outage due to hurrican, storms etc...remember Ike? Some of us was out of powers for days. With Biolite you have a means to cook and provide power to charge your phone or small radio, tv etc.... Biolite sells a grill and a kettle, can boil a liter of water in 4 minutes just using sticks, pine cone or what the storm blew into you yard. Yes, it does take time to charge product, A must have for prepers and the what if situation hit you.

no bang for the buck
if you have 4 hrs to spend charging your cell phone then this is for you . i will warn you that this is a very slow charging system to say the least. i personally dont have time to sit and stoke a small fire for hours on end for what little return i get from this device. you are much better off going with a solar charging system with tri fold panels. BASS PRO SHOPS carry many good items and i have been a loyal customer for many years .
