I ordered this product online and it came poorly packaged, very thin cardboard is used. The box was pretty flat when I received it. The reel heel (the piece that attaches to the rod) was broken when it arrived. It would probably be okay if you purchased it from the actual store.

Great product overall. I use it in Virginia caught many catfish on it and even use it for shore fishing. Had one problem with the spool and crank spinning both ways but basspro gave me a replacement for free and its working great

This is a perfect rod for catfishing. Heavy duty reel that is very smooth and can't hold a ton of line. I use monofilament and braided lines and they both function well. The rod is stiff enough for the biggest of catfish but still responsive enough for the smaller ones. If you like to reef fish down on the coast, this rod will do fine as well. I have 3 of them now and I'll be buying two more very soon. For the money, you won't find a better rod/reel combo.
