i bought some of these and they work really well with hog wild dip bait. i would say if you're not planning on keeping your cats, then you probably want to keep the basket and the sponge and just tie a bigger hook on because the hook they come with is so small that they may swallow it pretty good and wind up getting gut-hooked pretty bad. but as far as holding a good amount of bait and being easy to use, they are great. i would not hesitate to use them again.

These things hold the bait on so well you'll have trouble cleaning them off when your packing up to leave. No joke, I almost wish they didn't work THAT well. :) As for performance, I haven't had any luck catching anything but I'll chalk that up to the lake and the bait I was using. Oh, one thing, the line trails off to a cut end with nothing attached. I was surprised to see this so just expect to either tie this onto something or if you have some barrel swivels laying around attach them first before you head out.

has anyone ever considered like a kitchen syringe and maybe injecting the bait into the netting?

I have, it was intended for frosting a cake and it worked pretty wel. Except it seemed I spent more time loading the seringe with bait than i did the lure, and then you had to clean the thing when you got home or the dip bait would dry and clog it up. I went back to pushing the lure to the botom of the bait jar with a stick.1 of 1
