Rated 5 out of 5 by gmwiggs Very Good poppers
Reading some of the previous reviews about having to have a heavier rod than a #5 is pure bunk. I use these with a 5 all the time and have no problems at all. If you read the package it states that you should use a #6 to #8 size rod anyways. To leave a low rating because you have a #5 rod is pretty durn stoopid in my opinion. These work extremely well though. The black and yellow is the most effective for me.

I've been using these poppers for several years and catching huge smallmouths. They are very difficult to cast with a light weight rod. You want a heavier rod to handle the kind of fish that go after these poppers anyway. I use an 8 wt. and they cast fine. My friend landed a decent pickerel yesterday using the black and yellow banded popper.

They look nice with a good paint job, but ride low in the water. Accordingly, you have to work to make them "pop".
