best commercial bluegill popper
have used this popper design since the late 1980's
truly the best commercial for bluegill..even early spring or late fall; and you will catch a few bass as a bonus; they are too expensive, but they have caught hundreds of 7 to 9+ inch bluegill over the years...highly recommend a 3 wt rod fly rod...7 ft floating 7 ft 3x leader works quite well...even on a windy day...let the popper rest, sometimes it takes 30 seconds or so for the larger bluegill to bit...most exciting at night when you have to listen for the bit

Bett's Trim Gim poppers
I've been using these popper for bluegill for a couple of decades. I prefer the yellow and chartreuse colors, but these little guys definitely work wonders on bluegills in shallow water or wherever they are holding shallow. Great for spawning bluegills. Good quality construction and proven designs. As someone else mentioned these will fit into the smaller mouths of panfish for better and more reliable hookups.
A weight forward line is recommended because the rubber legs add air resistance to these lightweight poppers.

Bass love it!
Within minutes of tying this popper on I had a bass! Unfortunately, my line broke and the bass got away with my popper. I headed back to basspro to pick up another and while using, that same bass examined the popper, with the old one stuck in his mouth!! I didn't catch him, YET, but got another bass. I've tried many flies but these poppers have produced the most results. They aren't the cheapest, but well worth the money.
