Rated 5 out of 5 bream getter I have been flyfishing for the better part of forty years and have fished for just about every fresh and salt water species of fish on the continent and am a flyfishing guide on the east coast. Over the years i've probably used about every fly imaginable from royal wolves to common old every day rubber spiders and have yet to run across any fly that could compete with these bream getters. They will catch any fresh water fish that swims from largemouths to crappie, white bass, stripers and even trout. They are hands down the best all around fresh water fly on the market and i order them by the case most times. All the colors work wonderfully the black ,green and brown and can be fished on droppers behind popping bugs or as single baits. They can be worked like a streamer on a fast strip or like a nymph on a slow drift and any way in between, I highly recommend them and would not be caught without them. A:Absolutely! Anywhere Bluegill and bass are this fly will SLAY them!
A:This is a very good fly fishing lure for bream in Louisiana. I have been fishing with them for many, many years (decades actually). Betts has been around for a very long time. These are good lures by a reputable company and they will catch fish in Louisiana and wherever there are panfish. - TLARbb
Details:I am new to fly fishing and I bought this fly for fishing in golf course ponds that I know are loaded with largemouth bass, bluegill, and catfish but I have never tried it. I bought it for catching bluegill and bass but I don't understand how to work it. How do you work this fly and does it float well?
A:You just cast it near where the fish are and slowly retrieve it jiggling it slightly to make the legs work and wait for the strike. You should get a strike EVERY cast!
A:It;s a chenille bug so it absorps water and sinks slowly. If you false cast a few times it will float for a bit, but its most effective when you let it sink a bit a retrieve it is slow smooth strokes. Bluegill love it and while its a bit small for bass I have causgt plenty of them using this and similar bugs.
A:When I used it, I let it hit the water, and just twitched it back slowly and gently. Worked very well.
