not good for knots I bought a small spool of Berkley's Vanish leader material at World Wide Sportsman while on vacation in Islamorada, FL. Immediately I felt that this fluorocarbon was different from Seaguar. This stuff is STIFF, really stiff and thus ties a terrible knot. I wet the line as much as possible and still found that both my polymar, bloodknots, and clinch knots were a struggle to tie correctly. At times the line was damaged after tying a good knot and I was forced to re-tie and try again. Sorry Berkley, but this stuff is junk compared to Seaguar. It does appear clear and strong though, so if you're willing to throw away a few yards in the sake of the perfect knot try your luck. I'm done with this stuff though and will stick with the more expensive brands for the sake of saving literally feet of fluorocarbon in a day of fishing. May 5, 2007
OK, but not great I wish I would have read the reviews on this leader material before I purchased. This leader material is VERY stiff, difficult to tie knots. I haven't used the other brands, but I have read that Seaguar and other brands are much more limber. I used the 50# material and tied about a 18" leader. I had decent success with largemouth still hitting my soft plastic jerkbait. Unfortunately, I did not have any northern or muskie hit, so I can't say how the leader performed for its intended use. The leader definitely hurts the action of the soft plastic jerk bait. next time I'll try about a 8" leader...that may work better. June 10, 2011
Jury's still out? I have had a couple of 7 dollar jerkbaits hit the bottom when the splice failed suddenly. But Ive also really punished this leader with inexpensive jigs on one speckled trout after another. The failures of the splices were on the leader side of the splice (using 15lb leader with 8lb. fused braid), so Im thinkin Ill stay with Pline or Seagar? Its a good stiff leader and keeps its form really well after a ton of teeth and headshakes. January 2, 2008
NO LEADER HERE Kinks easy . poor knot tying .VERY stiff. when it stretches it becomes useless snaps very easy . I have used both 20 and 30 lb both are the same . Now i have YO-ZURI much better leader then berkely good knots very supple . also triple fish is good . December 12, 2009
