When I purchased the rod holder I didnt realize that it did not have a slot for the reel to seat deeper in the tube.
Rods can only go in as far as the reel, not making it very secure to keep the rod in the holder.
I wont trust a 250.00 rod and reel in it.

Im using this for kayak fishing, adding it to my Milk crate to add extra rods to my boat.
holds up very well to rough conditions, and able to take the bumps and bangs.
great to hold you extra rods.
very easy to attach to my milk crate.
i would suggest using washers, and perhaps a longer screw then the ones provided to ensure that extra strength you may need to ensure it holds up long term.

Seems strong enough and mounted quickly on my Legend GenX195.
The only con is the hardware!need to jump into the 21st century and start using Robertson or Philips head
screws!

I don't think it will. I have 2 fly rods and on both there is not enough distance between the reel and buttstock for it to slide in the tube deep enough for it stay put while boat is underway.

not for a fly rod, unless you modify. the rod butt won't go unto the holder far enough for a secure, stable fit.1 of 1
