  • Super strength and durability
  • Abrasion resistant
  • Excels in heavy cover
  • Low memory
Built to deliver the super strength and durability needed when fishing around rocky ledges, heavy weeds, docks and rough brush piles, this abrasion resistant Trilene XT Extra Tough monofilament line excels in heavy cover. An excellent high-performing, low-memory line that casts very well and won't put a large dent in your wallet, this mono line is designed to allow you to get away with some incredibly dicey casts.
Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 87 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by trusted for years I have used trilene xt seince the 1980's. It has proven me a time trusted product. I use it for spinnerbaits and worms. Verry duable running over rocks logs and whatever happens to be in the waters we fish. 12 14 17 and 20lb line is what I use with this product. April 27, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Trilene XT If it comes down to mono. I only use Trilene XT or XL. Just amazing line. I usually use 4 lb test for trout, bass at times, and one season for salmon cause I was bored. I have landed trout over 10 lbs easily with the 4 lb XT, lots of bass over 3-5 lbs, cats, crappie, salmon, an even large carp. Best test was using the 4lb XT tossing spinners for salmon one year off the bank. Hooked and landed a 17.75 bright king within 35 minutes of hookup. Having to tighten my drag down to haul the fish in through the current, that 4 lb Trilene held its own to the very end. Of course my line was stretched beyond any sensible use after the salmon. But who cares, I did it for fun and just to see if it could be done. Mono, nothing beats Trilene XT. Anything above 12lb in Trilene I can't vouch for. That's when I switch over to Big Game, April 14, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Strong, great knot strength Found a spool of 6# in my big tackle box and decided to use it. Tried using the uni knot, palomar and the improved clinch knots and held strong on all. Unbent a #2 wide gap that got hung up with no problem. I use 12# of different types usually and now am wondering why when this smaller line works just great. All my combos are spinning for the record. April 3, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by I LIKE IT. IM HAPPY WITH THIS LINE, I JUST GOT THE 4LB TEST FOR LAKE FISHING ONLY, BASICALLY FOR TROUT PURPOSES, I HAVE NOT USED IT ON THE WATER YET, BUT FROM TYING UP KNOTS FROM SETTING UP MY SWIVALS & STRAIGHT PULLING/TUGGING THIS LINE AT 4LBS FEELS STRONG ENOUGH TO DO THE JOB. IM JUST HAPPY I WAS ABLE TO SPOOL TWO REELS UP INSTEAD OF ONE.. February 21, 2013

I'm sure you can use it for topwater without any problems. The XT line is made for use around rocks and timber (XT - X-Tough). Any monofilament line will work well with topwater. You really don't need a flourocarbon for topwater fishing.

It is fine. Flourocarbon functions very similarly if not stiffer. It is stronger pound for pound, and abrasion resistant, but I don't feel that justifies the cost difference for top water use.

its really made for crappie with the red because the trout usually require finesse and a realistic light presentation

Just make sure it goes on the reel the same direction is comes off the spool. If line seems to be twisted, reverse the line spool.

theres really no wrong way to do it but the way iv spooled it for the past 10 years is by tying the simple basic surgical knot that you would use to tie ur shoes and rap it around 2-4 times around the spool( making sure it is in the right direction) and the reel up with the line spool directly below your reel while putting pressure on the line with your fingers from straight ahead and then after it is 4/5 up the reel put it through the eyes of the rod and tie on a lure.

Like all lines you would spool, turn your reel handle and see if your reel turns clockwise or counter clockwise. Then place your line spool on the floor and see which way the line comes off the spool clockwise or counter clockwise. Make sure that the line is coming off the spool the same way that your reel turns. So if your reel turns clockwise make sure that your line comes off the spool clockwise, if it isn't just flip the spool over and you are ready to spool your line. Use "slight" pressure running the line through your fingers as you spool it, not too tight as this could cause the line to spring off the spool. Hope this helps.

I don't reccomend using this line on a spinning reel. You will have much better results using XL instead. XT is geared more towards baitcasters, where as XL is geared more towards spinning reels.

I will tell you I think you would not be disappointed in ANDE line. It is every bit as good as any other major mono brand, at a better price. It has never broke under a load for me, nor has it let go a knot I've tied.

For steelhead I would use 6-8 pound mono for mainline and then match it with a flouro leader of the same pound test. Steelhead are very line shy and using light line will ensure they cannot see it very well. This light line will help ing the river while float fishing by imroving drifts also. If you do catch one, make sure that your drag is set risght and you will have no problem. Good luck

It depends on the size of the fish and the conditions of the river. The only problem I've really ever found is that it starts to fray after the first or second fish, so you have to pay close attention or you might break off.
