Built to deliver the super strength and durability needed when fishing around rocky ledges, heavy weeds, docks, and rough brush piles, this abrasion-resistant Trilene XT Extra Tough monofilament line excels in heavy cover. An excellent high-performing, low-memory line that casts very well and won't put a large dent in your wallet, this mono line is designed to allow you to get away with some incredibly dicey casts.

For me Trilene XT 14 lb test has always been synonymous with a medium action baitcaster, reeds, pads, and bass.
Although maybe not on par with XL's castability, it excels in abrasion resistance. In fact, it's a rare day on the water that I have to retie except for a lure change.
In the last couple of years, I've discovered the joy of bass fishing with light to medium light gear and,,, yeah you guessed it, 8-10 lb test Trelene XT.

by AJHauser Decent Line in a Pinch
This is a decent line in a pinch, here's why:
THE GOOD: The line is strong and abrasion resistant. I have had no real issues when tying on fluorocarbon leaders with back-to-back uni-knots, or knot strength in general.
THE BAD: The line has a thick diameter, probably due to whatever makes it abrasion resistant. This makes it rigid - and whether you spool this loose or tight, the right way or the wrong way, at some point you are going to have line jump the spool. When I use anything over 12 lb. test, this problem increases exponentially. The rigidity also impedes lure action.
THE VERDICT: If you are doing any sort or long distance casting, or looking for mono to put into a baitcast reel - go with Trilene XL, NOT XT! You could do much worse, but for me I now spool up with the appropriate weight line in XL no matter what.
Heavy cover or not - I haven't looked back once.
