All in all this model is probably best for notorious big bass waters in the South and West where any cast could result in a 10 pounder. Keep in mind, though, in colder parts of the country over the next few weeks bass will be in the shallows getting their feed on before the deep freeze. They will take this worm on with contempt and violence because it represents a substantial meal needed before the shut down. Yes, BPS Squirmin' Worm 12" model is a much better value; but the 12" Berkley Power Worm has a bulkier profile in the water and the Powerbait scent makes a big difference. Dinks will shy away from this one. We're talking 3 pounders and upward with this worm. Use it just like you would work the 10" model, but use 7/0 or 8/0 worm hook. If you use a heavy wire hook, no need for a bullet weight to keep it on the bottom. Good things happen just leaving it on the bottom. I'm serious...just leave it set. Pick it up once in a while, hop it, maybe a couple 2-3 twitches, and drag it oh so slowly with a 1/2 rev on your reel.. Good luck!

I keep trying other worms thinking they should work. But it never fails: The power worm proves that there is no equal time and time again. I spent 30-45 minutes chasing a bass the other day with a Zoom Ol Monster. The bass and probably bluegill and crappies kept nibbling at it. Rigged one of these power worms on and on the second cast I had the 4 pounder in my hand. My Favorites: The Watermelon Candy, Motor Oil Red Fleck, Black Blue Fleck.

Worked slow, and texas rigged this bait is great for huge bass.. No sinker, just a natural presentation with a florocarbom leader. Great near or on weeds. Caught many from 5 to 11 pound!

I see some of the 12" worms have a hook tail and some have a ribbon tail. Which is it?

They are all ribbon tail. It's the way they are laying that makes them look like it is a curly/hook tail.Top 250 Contributor
