This is a question that EACH of us anglers have asked, and why the lure industry is so lucrative.

The color you want to use is going to depend on 2 things primarily, but other factors come into play as well...

1. The type of water whether it's clear or stained. If a fish can't see it, they won't bite it. A good rule of thumb is to use a bright color for stained, and a less colorful for clear. (Keep it natural.)

2. Try to choose a lure that looks as close to the baitfish in the water as you can. The fish are not going to go for something that looks out of place.

No not that I am aware of I just wish they would improve the hooks and make them weedless. I would be willing to pay more money for an owner or trokar hook.

Take it out of the package and tie it on.
When taking the lure out of the fish's mouth, use the metal rather than the plastic because it will tear if too much force is used to dislodge from the fish.

Theese baits are pre-rigged and ready to go. The only thing you have to do is pull off a piece of clear tubing off the hoook, easier said than done. I wish the tube was shorter, going around the hook causes it to catch the barb when pulling it off.

3" white with a green tail or the "firetiger"
are completely sold out in this area. There are no flats around here but the baits catch anywhere from two feet along the banks to six and eight feet in the bay. Good luck and happy fishing.

Absolutely. Catch them all the time. I like to use a 3" and the 4" size. If fish are busting bait, then I use the 4" to minimize catching rat reds and small trout. I've caught slot reds and speckled trout and even gator trout with both sizes. White, Black and white, and gold and chartreuse are my three favorite color combinations. Speckled trout and redfish like swimming irratic retreive. Founder like slow, slow, slow on the bottom retreive.

I shore fish saltwater most of the time. Redfish I don't know, but for Ling cod, Rock cod and greenling they're my go-to bait... 6" for fish over 24", 4" for anything with a mouth, good in shad & baby bass.

They use the larger ones 4"&5" in Lake Hartwell to catch strippers. I would match the color to water clarity, as Hartwell is a clear water lake, and the ligther colors work better.

Only if a monster bass hits it, but I'm sure you wouldn't care if it shredded your lure if you land one like that... lol

Here in Michigan, I had a pike nail one that looked like a perch, and he ripped the tail off, and chipped the glass head, so I couldn't even put a new tail on it, but he was a nice big one and a fighter. I didn't mind sacrificing it to get him.

Nope. Only damage my lures occured while fishing for Hybrid Bass was that the tail was bitten off of one. Otherwise, the 3" baits handled 3-4 lb fish with no issues.

I have found they are good for 5-6 fish, but a cat will tear them up quickly. I bought them on sell, and they are cheaper than minnows.

I haven't had many problems with the hook tearing out of the bait. On occasion it happens but that's true with any soft plastic baits. Don't let it stop you from trying them. Get a bag and tie one on.

I was concerned about that also, but I had no problem with the 3 in. 1/4 oz. size even with a 4 lb. Bass. Biggest problem was hooking fish well enough to land them. Hook exposed above bait too small as is barb.
I would not buy this lure again unless Berkley makes improvements.
