I have used these worms for rivers and lakes. I have caught multiple species using them. They also hold up well but only issue local bass pro doesn't carry the color I use so have to order via internet.

i use a 5' UL st. croix rod with a pfluger president micro reel with 4lb fluocarbon line. i also use a 1/0 sized hook becaus the smaller bass sunfish hit much more readily. i dont use any weightA:Â
This product can be used in many different set ups and they work great. Your set up is one thing, and your presentation is another. You always have to play around a little and find out what the fish want. Ounce you defied that, then get ready for some rod bending action. But fish preferences can change all through out the day.Answers

yes, they are scented.A:Â
I wouldn't consider Berkley power worms scented - but they do have a unique smell to them. I think that is part of the reason they work well in stained and turbid water - bass can both sense and pick up an odor from them.Images for this Answer
