It's works well because it brings out the bass. Throw it in a spot and the bass are attracted to it. Enjoyed using this worm.

I have used these 10 inch red shad power worms since 1996 and have a great success with largemouth with a 5.0 hook. I hope they never quit making them.

I love berkley power bait worms and use the 10" worms all the time . They are my big fish bait. I would like to see Basspro shops to handle more 100 count bags of worms in there store, plus handle all the colors that come in 100 count bags. The Basspro in Ashland Va. had no bags at all in store

I seem to do ok with them early but others tell me I would do better using buzzbaits, etc. in the a.m. I just have more confidence in worms than top water baits.

I fish worms in the morning, but I fish them different in a.m. than in the afternoon. In the early morning I fish a small thump tail worm weightless right off the weeds offshore, this acts like a buzz bait calling out fish hiding in brush & lily pads while they hang out in cool morning water. As the day gets longer / hotter, they go for deeper water to stay cool forcing them away from a easy source of food. Now they get a little defensive, so then I throw the Berkley 10" power worm, and get great results.

don't kid yourself...always try topwater in the morning or a spinnerbait. my favorite top water is the luckycraft gunfish and also the yellow magic pop r. definately try those out. once you get a topwater bite, you'll forget the worm in the morning.A:Â
I use the power bait 10" worm from 6 am to 9pm (my normal fishing trip on thursdays) I use it on ledges for LM Bass when al lthe water everywhere is hot here in middle TN.A:Â

I also love the top water action in the summertime, but if I get out there and the top water bite is slow early in the morning I will automaticly start rotating with a top water, jig and my 10" Berkley Power Worm until I locate some fish. It is best not to get hung up on one spacific bait expecially if the bite is slow. The 10" Power worm is a great surch bait. With the tail action you can swim it through trees and cover for suspended fish or drag or hop it along the bottom for fish that are deeper without having to change baits so often.Details:Â

fish as slow as you can, then slow down some more. fishing worms too fast is the number one reason to not catch fishA:Â
It also depends on the area being used in and the water temp and oxygen content. I personally like to throw mine out with a large weight texas rigged and bouce it off the bottom with about a 3 foot pull. I fish it slow and never swim it. I also like to give it a few sakes when its setting o nthe bottom. I rarely ever get hits on the bottom. It always during the time I lift it or when its falling.A:Â

I have had great success with the 10" Power worms. I do not use just one technique. I usually try to work it several different ways until I find out how the fish want it. I find it best to start by letting it sink to the bottom. Usually I will let it sit for just a moment and then start dragging it slowly and hopping it once in a while. Like all other finesse baits you have to fish it with confidence and give it a good chance. The more you use it the better your sucess will be.A:Â
try using a lighter weight. Some people assume a large worm needs a large weight. Depends on the structure your fishing as well. rocky bottom is good for heavier weight. Muddy bottom light weight. tall grassy weedy water, Carolina rig. And yes, fish this bait slow....crawling not bouncing along like a jack rabit. Let the fish smell it and look it over a bit before moving it. Larger fish seem to inhale it and sit with it in their mouths and not move. hard to see the strike. Pay attention the whole time the lure is in the water.Images for this Answer

Hi there!remember one thing, fishing for big fish with big baits means a lot less bites. But believe me it is worth the effort. There´s no magic retrieve the only thing its to work it slow, big fish are opportunistic and will not expend many energy chassing a meal. Good luck!!

Some people swim these worms and others work it with the same finesse like that of smaller plastics. Its all about what your comforatable with. Dont worry about fishing them TOO slow, and whatever you do DONT give up on them. They will put a 4lber in the boat for you. If youve ever fished a jig, apply the same hopping and dragging action to this bait, its big enough to get attention with the smallest movement, yet the action is good enough to trigger a reaction strike when you hop it off the bottom. this worm is a huge chunks of plastic and i always use a 5/0 gamakatsu EWG worm hook. it works the best.A:Â
I am fishing for large mouth and use A large 5 wide gap BPS brand or a #6. If your a slow hook setter then fear the fish swalling the bait and hook pry top you setting the hook. They love this smell and try to consume it. So the big hook prevents alot of damaged throat fish.A:Â

I usually fish this worm with a 4/0 and a 3/0 mister twister hooks joined with a split ring, a swivel, and a folding clevis to get the required length. If I were to go with a single hook I would choose either a 4/0 or 5/0A:Â

Depends on location and targeted species. In clear water, for LM, you can't beat pumpkin and the subtle brown and green natural colors. Remember, the prey that survives blends in! If you're targeting smallmouths, they like greens and chartreuse tips.I don't throw the big worm in dirty water, since the only normally dirty water I see are rivers. But grape, black, tequila sunrise, or junebug work on the smaller worms I throw in dirty water.
Learn the forage in your particular body and see what color "sheen" they give off at the bait store. You might want to pick a worm with "fleck" that's a similar sheen. But I don't think that makes too big a difference.

i fish in medium stained water up to 25 ft. deep average current, unless waterskiers are churning up the waters. lake has some small mouth bass, whitebass and walleye mostly. the other water i fish is lewis and clark in eastern nebraska. water is deep and dark,the current is very strong. what colors or bait would you recommend?4 years, 2 months ago

I don't know anything about walleye fishing except for whatever Babe Winkleman is trying to sell on the TV. But for smallmouth, I love bottom-touching techniques like tubes, jigs, drop shots or even carolina rigs. You'll have to figure out which weights and presentations will allow you to be accurate in that current and get the bait in the right part of the water column and keep it there. Imagine the bottom in 3D with that water rushing by and use your electronics to find current breaks, that's usually where they'll hang out waiting to eat. It doesn't take a boulder, even seemingly small things can save a bass a lot of energy wasted fighting the current.Drop shots and carolina rigs are tough to work in current but they let you upsize the weight without spooking the fish more.
WIth smallies, stick to green, though at those depths they wont be seeing much. A green tube on a jighead will fish well if there's no weeds and the fish will practically hook himself for you when he bites.

My favorite color is the all black or the black/blue tail in the ten inch version. I fish this in stained water because of the big profile. I will fish green pumpkin baits in clearer water. But, due to the smallmouth, I would use the seven inch bait. As for scent, I don't use any except the stuff it comes with in the package. If you need scent, I recommend the gulp alive stuff.Images for this Answer
