Because superline fishing is here to stay, Berkley designed their Lightning Rod Shock Series Trigger Rods to give anglers a rod specifically designed to handle today's superlines. The Lightning Rod Shock Series Rod's 1K Power Helix construction creates extra strength with a lightweight feel, and the Strike Amplifying Tip (S.A.T) blends fiberglass with graphite to produce for a slower-reacting tip that results in fewer lost fish. Diamond-polished aluminum oxide guides reduce friction, decrease wind knots and other line management issues while remaining lightweight and tough. The Lightning Rod Shock Rods feature a split-grip design that delivers more sensitivity and better balance with less weight, and a suspending reel seat keeps the reel from hampering vibration, ensuring maximum sensitivity.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Brooks Great Rod! Great Price!
I've been using a BPS Crankin' Stick for finesse fishing for the last couple of years. I liked it because of the strong backbone for big hooksets, but sensitive tip.
I really liked the look and feel of these new Lightning Shock rods so I picked up one up and paired it with a BPS Extreme baitcaster and 50lb PowerPro as my wormin' rod. Its a very light setup!
VERY IMPRESSED! It has even more backbone for hooksets and an even more sensitive tip for feeling every little pebble on the lakebed as I drag a Texas-rig across it. One of my favorite features is that the PowerPro doesn't make noise going through the guides, as they are designed for superlines. My Crankin' Stick sounds like a freight train...and although I really like it as well, its going back to its intended purpose of crankin'.
I would highly recommend this rod to folks on a budget...but also to those who aren't...its a really good deal. Haven't had it long and only had it out a couple of times, but I'm looking forward to spending more time on the water with it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by BassPa great, but!!!
I’ve been using this rod at least once a week , great quality, performance , sensitivity and lots of action , the only problem I had was with the design/depth of the lower reel seat, my reel snapped off the rod twice while reeling two large bass. Compared to other split-grip I own, lower seat is not deep enough . Solve the problem by tightening the seat screw with a wrench . Hope Berkley will fix this problem in future. Only reason for not getting 5 stars.

I have 3 of these rods and I must say, they are something else. It feels and performs almost like a carrot stix, at 1/4th the price. I've managed to pull out 5lb+ bass out of heavy cover with these rods without a problem. Mine are matched up with Shimano Curados and they work very well together. Give it a shot! You will not be disappointed.
