Because superline fishing is here to stay, Berkley designed their Lightning Rod Shock Series Spinning Rods to give anglers a rod specifically designed to handle today's superlines. The Lightning Rod Shock Series Rod's 1K Power Helix construction creates extra strength with a lightweight feel, and the Strike Amplifying Tip (S.A.T) blends fiberglass with graphite to produce for a slower-reacting tip that results in fewer lost fish. Diamond-polished aluminum oxide guides reduce friction, decrease wind knots and other line management issues while remaining lightweight and tough. The Lightning Rod Shock Rod Series also feature a split-grip design that delivers more sensitivity and better balance with less weight, and a suspending reel seat keeps the reel from hampering vibration, ensuring maximum sensitivity.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Yakriverrat Quality rod for a modest price.
I purchased the 7' 6 " medium light spinning rod for smallmouth bass river fishing from my kayak. I wanted the extra length to work around the front and back of the kayak. The rod has worked perfectly. It has the sensitivity to feel the smallest of bites and the strength to land 2 smallmouth bass over 4 lbs and a 38" muskie. I highly recommend this rod to kayak fisherman. I have already ordered another one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by lilly26 great product for the price!
before purchasing this rod, i read all the reviews on it. good and bad. i was a bit skeptical, but took a chance. i bought the 6'6" medium light 2 piece, and it's been great! i've used it for 2 years now, and no problems with it what's so ever. it's very sensitive and you feel even the smallest bites! rather surprising how good it feels. very nice action and very nice feel to it. handle is quiet comfortable, and the cork is a nice touch. i matched my spinning rod with a shimano reel, and both have done me good. i would recommend this rod to anyone for bass and walleye. works great with rigs / lures. i'll be purchasing another one of these in a heartbeat! honestly best rod i've owned!

I purchased a 6.5' spinning model based on how light and crisp it felt in the hand. I caught a good dozen largemouths with it on it's first use and I was hooked. Palm swelled grip is one of the more comfortable I've felt, It's sensitive, efficient in casting and delivers NICE hooksets. Yet it does this without being overly "phone pole" stiff. Balance and performance is nice with a 11 oz reel spooled with 10# mono.
I'd have given it a 5 rating if the first guide was a little larger. Doesn't seem to hurt casting but I prefer larger.
Liked it enough where I've purchased two more since.

Rated 5 out of 5 by FLS1 Nothing wrong with this rod
After reading all the reviews it seems many like this rod and some hate it. I own 2 spinning models which are 7 Ft med. No problems with either. I also own a 7.5 ft heavy action casting model. It works great as well. I use them for catfish and salmon. Nice rods for heavier fish since they are a bit on the stiff side. I would not hesitate to use this rod for smallmouth because they do allow for a huge hook set. I would think big pike and musky could also be handled with these as well. Functional and very attractive rods. I have pflueger arbour reels on the spinning models and they match up beautifully. Great rods at a great price. On a final note any graphite rod will snap unless careful handling is exercised. An overlooked nick is usually the cause.
