America’s best-selling graphite rod delivers powerful value and stunning good looks! The Berkley® Lightning Rod® IM6 Trigger Rod features high-modulus IM6 graphite providing the ideal balance of durability, light weight, and strength, and it’s topped with chrome-plated SS304 guides, which are 20-times tougher and 55% lighter than aluminum oxide. The hidden-thread foregrip further reduces weight, and the skeletonized reel seat gives 100% reel and finger contact with the super-sensitive blank.

Bad product. SAVE YOUR MONEY Suppose I can't give a 0 Star? I live on the Klamath river, Norther CA. Using 8lb firewire, braided line, I snapped the tip of this pole within 20 min of casting. My lure got stuck down stream, and with a snapping motion I expected to get it loose like I almost always do. Instead, my brand new IM6 snapped at the tip. This is simply the saddest experience I've ever had with any brand new fishing pole purchased thru Bass Pro Shops. December 21, 2014
Berkley Lighting Rod I have been using the Lighting Rods for over 25 years and have found them very hard to break or damage. I have caught fish up to and 1 over 10 lbs. It puts up a great fight so the fish is in the boat in very short time. Most fish don't have much of a chance using this rod along with a good reel and braided line for sensitivity. Over the years these rods just keep going and going from 5'6" to 6' are the ones I use in tournament action. You can count on these to do the job and are light in weight. February 25, 2014
Best Rod for the Money For less than $50.00, this has to be the best rod you can buy. It is the most sensitive rod I've ever used, detecting the slightest of bites. I have the 7' MH and it's my first baitcaster and I absolutely love it. Only downside is the guides. While they are very lighweight and sleek, they sacrifice strength and I bent them trying to pull a lure off a log. However, they easily bent back into place. If you need a good rod for less, BUY THIS! March 18, 2014
Great for the price I got this rod in a combo for a very good price to use for fun, not serious fishing. I used it for a few months with my cousin and friend. The sensitivity in this rod is above par for rods in this range. However, coming home from a trip, it randomly snapped above the second eye. I was very sad because it was a great rod, especially for the price. It was also very comfortable to fish with, and looks great. I'd get another one. July 10, 2013

Thank you for your question!
1. Yes, this is a quality rod and should last a long time!
2. The number of guides varies from model to model. For a list of the models (and how many guides each has), please visit Berkley's website or use this web link: http://www.berkley-fishing.com/Berkley%C2%AE-Lightning-Rod%C2%AE/1285522,default,pd.html#start=1

Mine has 7 guides, I have had mine for several years and never had a problem with it, here is one tip that I do to every new rod, stand the rod up and apply a VERY small amount of super glue to each guide eye and let dry, flip rod over and apply another drop of super glue, you will not loose sensitivity and this way the eyes never pop out

These rods are great for topwater fishing and spinnerbait fishing, they have great tip action and a strong backbone.

I love the lightning rods. Most of my rods are these except the ones with action these rods dont have. I used a 6 6 m for topwater but have moved up to a 7 m. both work great. There is enough tip and backbone.
