I fish about 3 days a week for the better part of the year on the Outer Banks of NC and this rod has held up with just a spray down with fresh water after each use. The IM6 uses a IM6 blank and has SS304 guides.

The Shock, is designed for braided lines, uses a composit blank and Alum-Oxide guides.

The line you use will determin which is better for you. One note of caution: Don't over tighten the reel down on any Berkley Rod, they are a little week in the reel seats. Great rods though. Best of luck, and keep a tight line.
