Berkley® Hot Line Cutter
Great dual-purpose tool.
This tool was designed as a line-cutter for braided line, which it does perfectly. However, I primarily use it to mend plastic baits that normally get thrown away after they are torn from a couple of fish. If you dry the water from your plastic baits, you can mend them in 2-3 seconds and use the again. Just insert the hot tip into the torn spot and run it back and forth a couple times until you see the plastic start to melt, remove the tool and quickly pinch the plastic together for a second or two and you are back in business. I carry spare batteries in my tackle box so that I never run out of power or never run out of a "hot bait" while on the water.

Best fishing tool I have.
This is my third one, not replacements. Have them in right tackle bags. Always

I bought mine on 03-27-2014 and it has hung on the side of the interior carpet of the boat ever since. Getting plenty of rain and sun , it has never failed to cut every line from 10# mono to 65# braid with the original batteries ... now of course it'll blow up or something ;)
Beats the heck out of scissors or a knife !
When I take a new reel into the house to have the spouse hold a spool of line to spool up a new reel I take the Hot Line Cutter in the house too.
With 12 trolling rods/reels it's seen a lot of use.

I have read the bad reviews on this site and think most of the problems are related to not using the product properly. You do not need to get the tip red hot before touching it to the line. As soon as you extend the tip, touch it to the line and it will come apart. Your battery life will be extended exponentially. Your cutter will likely last longer also. It is way easier than clipping the line with a knife, nail clippers or your teeth. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is that I bought it last season and am still waiting to see if it is working as well this year.
