One of the easiest ways to catch suspending or fish holding in cover is to let your Jerk Shad plastic baits marinate in Berkley®'s high-octane Gulp! Alive® formula! Because the strike-enticing, Gulp! Alive Jerk Shad actually ''live'' in Berkley's ''magic gravy'', Gulp! Alive, they absorb up to 20% more attractant. That's 20% more scent, more taste, more action and more reason for fish to snap them up! Each super-charged Gulp! Alive Jerk Shad disperses its potent scent like a blood trail in the water pulling fish out of cover, and when the fish-catching is over, you can simply put the bait back in the bucket to recharge for another day!

The Berkley Gulp! Alive Baits are sold by net weight and not by count. A pint of 5'' Gulp! Alive Jerk Shad is approximately equivalent to three packages (six-count) of Gulp! Jerk Shad for a total of 18 baits per pint. A pint of 7'' Gulp! Alive Jerk Shad is approximately equivalent to three packages (four-count) of Gulp Jerk Shads for a total of 12 per pint.

Love 'em I really love these soft jerkbaits. Lots of colours, and excellent attraction scent. Just wish they'd figure gulp out like powerbait so you wouldn't have to worry about your baits drying out July 18, 2009
old is better than new When I first started using Gulp jerk shad years ago it was much better than the current version. The original came in a plastic bag with a zip lock type seal and it was very soft. The newer version comes in a plastic tub with liquid in it which I must admit keeps the Gulp. However; this new version is so hard it is almost impossible to get a hook through it and rig it properly and I do not think it has the same action in the water. I am going to give up on Gulp jerk shad even though it was my go to bait for many years. June 13, 2014
Redfish and Flounder love it I bought a pack of these and they only lasted 2 hours I had so many bites! August 13, 2014
You'll get lots of bites but no hookups The design of this lure in the weedless fashion covers the hook so much that hookups are about impossible. I get a good number of bites but only about a 10% hookup rate. When I fished it with the hook exposed I had far fewer bites and was unable to fish it near any structure or weeds without getting it hung up. The action in the weedless fashion is great if Berkley can figure out a way to reduce the amount material that is in the way which prevents hookups. June 23, 2010

I don't have any underwater vegetation in my lake, just a LOT of brush. Very few crawfish, and medium amount of shad. Last year the lake got stocked with Florida Bass

Well when the water is clear to fairly visible, and you have alot of brush, don't use too many bright colors. I would use the brown first, if not then the white. If the water is muddy you should then use the brighter colors like the pumpkin, chartreuse, or orange just so you can get the fish's attention.

A:
Berkley’s Gulp! Alive baits are measured by volume, not count. According to Berkley’s customer service line, the 5” Gulp! Alive Bucket contains approximately 24 shads and the 7” bucket contains approximately 12 shad.
