If the fish don’t see it, they won’t get spooked! That’s the accepted truth that spawned the first translucent superline for near invisibility underwater. Berkley®'s FireLine® Crystal Line sets new standards for ultimate sensitivity, low visibility, and exceptional strength in situations that require a stealthy presentation. Color: Crystal. 1500 yard spool.
Not invisible - but still good
This is my favorite line but it's not invisible, it's white. I actually like the whiteness because it makes it visible to me for line watching. Here's a tip. Go to a craft store and buy a black fabric magic marker. Use it to color the last 10 feet of line. Now you have the best of both worlds, you can see it but the fish can't.

Not up to Berkley standards
I purchased the original Fireline years ago when Berkley first introduced it to the market. This Crystal is simply not the same quality. I'm not an expert on braided lines but this line almost literally disintegrates in your hand. Knot strength is fine but it does not hold up as well under normal use as the original or its rival PowerPro.

im with you tallmoon i nearly talked myself out of using the line all together, im now back on the floro wagon, but last season i fished fireline every trip and never had a problem with it, its strong and reliable, 20 pound carp and the 4 pound dia. this stuff works and i still keep it on my spare spool, its like fishing with insurance sure its visible but find me a braid that isnt

I love this line
I have read the review on this line and I am puzzled. I have been using Fireline on all 4 of my spinning reels. As a matter of fact I just bought a new Shimano 1000 for my ultra lite rod and I picked up a spool of Fireline. I have a cabin in Northwestern Wisconsin and fish almost evey weekend in open water season. I like the fact that if I do get a wind knot just be a little patient with this line and it is very easy to undo. It cast well, very low memory, The fish in my lake must be blind because I have no problem having a great day on the water. Personaly I do not even want to bother with mono of any brand. Fireline is great.
The only thing I do not like about fireline is it will cut your hands up when it's new.

Fireline crystal is supposed to be a transleusent superline, but looking at it, it doesn't look too invisible. Is it actually transleusent under water? How is the visibility compared to monofilament or flourocarbon? Overall, should I get fireline crystal, or just regular fireline?
eh its kinda like having your cake n' eatin it too, there is no such thing as an invisible braid, if visibility is the biggest concern i go to flourocarbon, but unmatched strength to diameter ratio choose a braid..however if you dont like going home with black or moss green hands choose crystal..mono should be extinct
