Rated 3 out of 5Â by Garrity Fades and doesn't last very long.
Had the 8lb smoke, which started out nice and black, but quickly fade to white and gray and looked stiff and ready to crack.
And crack it does, after less than 10 bass it looks pretty worn by the hook. Had to retie the hook a lot more compared to 10lb power pro braid which easily lasted well over 10 fish before looking like it needed to be re tied.

I would use 10-20lb test line but it really depends what your fishing forTop 500 Contributor

Fireline can be used anywhere. If fishing from shore, be sure to use a leader of mono or fluorocarbon in case you get snagged. The fireline is hard to break and if you lose it because it breaks at the reel or between the reel and the snag, it may caue problems for wildlife that can get tangled in it.Details:Â
I'm thinking of buying this in 4 or 6 lb test for stream trout fishing. is this a good choice? if so what color should I go withAnswers
A:Â
I would get 6lb test line because of the diameter, amd crystal colorA:Â
If you fish this line is a good choice. I would go with the 6 lb.A:Â
This is by far the best line ever, I caught more trout on this line, then any other, forget mono, forget fluorocarbon, it just doesn't compare. I recommend 6 pound test, its real breaking strength is at 15 pounds, so you will easily pull out fish. The best color is the grayish black one, because its invisible to fish at that diameter, even in the sunniest day ever.Top 500 Contributor
A:Â
yes that is wat i use mine forA:Â
I use cristal for all of my fishing.I fish for crappie, carp, cat fish and walleye.

This line will definetly work for trout fishing in streams. I use it for that same purposeDetails:Â
I will be using it on my baitcaster. Also what pound test for spinnerbait fishing for bass? (Please answer only if you have tried both brands).Answers
A:Â
fireline fused gray, 50 lb, its breaking point is at 80 pounds using a polomar knot :). If your using on baitcaster, never buy anything of smaller diameter, because it will cut into itself no matter what brand of braid fishing line it is. Fireline is way stronger than powerpro and also it keeps it roundness for way longer. It will also never lose its color unlike powerpro.A:Â
I use 8 lb test with a medium action rod for bass fishing. I've never had a fish break the line!Top 500 Contributor
A:Â
I use both and when spool capacity is an small I would go Power Pro. Since I have switced to Fire Line I havnt gone back. works great on both spinning an baitcasting here in the saltwaterDetails:Â
I heard from someone that fireline works best on a spinning reel. Is this true? If so what makes it better for a spinning reel. Is fireline crystal or fireline braid any different?Answers
A:Â
works great on my browning midas spinning reelTop 250 Contributor
A:Â
I use fireline on all of my spinning reels and it works great! Crystal supposedly is clear in the water, but I use the smoke color and the fish don't know any different...so just go with braid. Lastly, don't use anything less than 12 lb test or you will eventually have a big one get away.A:Â
I have only used it on a bait casting reel. From my experiance I have found that the heaver test line cast better on a spinning reel.
A:Â
I Have used this line for more than 10 years on Spinning Reels and Baitcasters, No problems, I use only the Original, Smoke color.Top 250 Contributor
A:Â
Excellent for spinning. Spinning reels will twist mono like crazy, but I only have to spool Fireline once a year and NEVER have to fool with birds nests. As far as color to choose, go with smoke. It is visible, but the fish don't seem to mind. You will never lose a fish due to breakage--tie a good knot and hang on tight!A:Â
I use Fireline exclusively on spinning reels when I'm fishing with crank baits. It won't twist like mono will and has much less tendency to birdsnest on you. I've found that crystal is not as resistant to abraision as the smoke or the oiriginal.Top 500 Contributor
A:Â
The Fireline does work great on spinning gear. I love the stuffBraid line is excactly that, braided micro-filiments. Fireline is micro filiments and is not braided. both superlines have thier own advatages. I would choose fireline over braid any day, simply cause it casts better. One can also fill the spool up on spinning gear and get no wind knots. Braid will get a few casts and have to cut off 25 yrs cause of wind knots.

i want to either use the crystal or the flame green on my spinning reel. i use it for worm fishing just wanted to know which would work better for thisAnswers

A:Â
Smoke. Nothing fancy but yields excellent results.Top 250 Contributor
A:Â
Neither. Go with smoke and rig your worm. Simple, super strong, and deadly!A:Â
I really like the flame green because it has great visibilty, even though the color wears off over time and turns white.A:Â
Get moss green if they have it or go for the spiderwire in moss greenA:Â
Neither, I recommend SMOKE. I have tried crystal and flame green and won't buy them again. I have had my best luck with SMOKE whether fishing dark water or crystal clear water.A:Â
I've never used the flame grn- nor do I want to, but I've used the crystal for 3 seasons now- liked it at 1st, but it has a tendency to "collect" crud from stained water and turn an off brn color, losing it's ability to stay "clear", so I'm going back to plain black- it seems the best all around for my styles of fishing.Answers
A:Â
I used 13lbs line today and did not like it. I went back to mono the same day.A:Â
It is made for a spinning so when i bought it i was unsure but it has worked great for me.A:Â
This line is what I have on both of my reels. The best I have ever used. I only use bait casting reels now.A:Â
Works better on baitcasters then spinning outfits.Details:Â
Im thinking about buying a combo for drop shots only adn i was wondering if it would be better to buy the fireline crystal(because it becomes invisible below the surface adn because of the no stretch property) or fluorocarbon.Answers
A:Â
The crystal looks like rope to me in clear water. I use fireline with a fluorocarbon leader on my drop shot rigs.A:Â
Fireline Crystal is NOT invisible underwater. It is simply BS. If you want minimal visibility, stick with fluorocarbon. If you want tough, zero-strech line, go with the Fireline Crystal.A:Â
Prob would work- cheaper in the long run than flo-carb, but prob I had w/crystal is it "soaks" in dirt from water and turns a brownish color, losing it's invisibility properties. So, I use black. I not only use it for main lines, but make my walleye harnesses/ leaders out of it for it's strength & longivity.Top 250 Contributor
A:Â
Fireline is strong to pull on, but it is not very abbrasive resistant flurocarbon is very abbrasive resistant. Also, if you're fishing clear water i would use the flurocarbon, but if you stained water than fireline crystal would be okay. If it was me i would go with 8lb 100% triline flurocarbon. hope this helps.Answers
A:Â
yes, but make sure you use the surgeons knot, so it doesn't slip off. Also the line's strength is way higher than what it says on the box atleast 2.5x stronger, but the diameter is still way smaller than other braids.A:Â
Yes it does. I use it all the time.Top 250 Contributor
A:Â
Use a flurocarbon leader, it is more abbrasive resistant, and it disappears better underwater.
