Not sure why there are so many negative reviews. I have performed several tests with hanging weights (3, 5 and 10 lbs) and the scale is accurate within 1 ounce +/- each time. I have not had the scale for a long period of time, so I can't comment on the battery life... but if this is going in a boat or even a backpack, be prepared and carry some extra batteries. This isn't brain surgery.
... and seriously, taking this to a tournament without extra batteries would be like taking the hooks and plugs that are already tied on to your poles and nothing more.

Doesn't even come close to weighing properly. weighed a 9.3 as 7 something and a 4 as 2.something.

I purchased this scale about 3 weeks. When I put brand new batteries in it and tried it at my house it worked fine, until the very next day. While fishing in a local tournament I tried to weigh my first fish of the day and.....nothing. Changed out batteries on the boat and....nothing. Have not been able to get this scale to work since the day I bought it and have yet to weigh one fish. Maybe it was just a fluke but I would not recommend this to anyone.

I used this unit once in Dec. 2012; I'm positive I turned it off. Tried to use it Feb. 9, 2013 and batteries were dead. Put in new batteries and display is so weak that I didn't even think unit was working. Tried to put some weight on to see if it would register....nothing. Just the zeroes, and those are so faint you can barely see them. I wish I had read these reviews beore wasting my money.
