For a moderately priced rod holder these seem to perform well. Easy to install, fairly easy to use. The slide clamp that secures the front portion can be a little stubborn, but once you figure it out it gets easier.
When you install make sure the tab inside the holder base is positioned so that when you attach the holder you have to turn it at least 90 deg to the position you will use it in otherwise the holder will come out of the base when you remove the rod.
I have only used these about four times so far, but believe they are good quality.

This is an exceptional rod holder. Ease of use is a ten, Installation ease is a ten, Im sorry to say that it blows the bps version away. Item is more expensive but well worth the extra bucks

Cheaper alternative to the Scotty Rod holder, installs easily and is affordable. You will need to make sure that the rod holder is firmly locked into the base once it's mounted and the fish rod is install into it. The rod holder does not lock as tightly as other rod holders that I have used.

have had these for 6 yrs on my kayak & can't falter them, i've been towed around by some big fish over the yrs & their still going strong . i have even given some to a friend for his boat ! the only thing is make sure you give the locking ring a wipe over after using in saltwater or they get a little sticky.

There arent any diagrams but the installtion is still very easy. They dont include screws because it would be a waste. You should use bolts to mount this to your boat, If you are using a rail mount, side mount or a surface mount the bolt size is going to be different . Its only a little drive to your local hardware store and a couple of bucks to get the right lenght bolts, washers and nuts for your application..A:
It's easy to mount, true mounting hardware does not come with this rod holder, I would recommend using brass bolts and hardware to mount the base to your boat. Drill a couple of holes and it's mounted in a couple of minutes.1 of 1
