A favorite among Benelli fans, the Benelli Super Black Eagle II sets the standard for styling, versatility and performance. If you look for the kind of reliability that you can count on, the Super Black Eagle II is for you. The original 3-1/2'' semi auto shotgun, the SBE II uses the proven Benelli Inertia Driven® bolt mechanism to shoot 2-3/4'', 3'' and even 3-1/2'' magnum ammunition without adjustments. This high performance gun also features the ComforTech® system to reduce recoil up to 48% without adding any moving parts or weight. This technology also reduces muzzle climb by 15% for faster follow-up shots, allowing shooters to get back on target up to 69% faster than comparable shotguns. Get your hands on a Super Black Eagle II and find out why this quick shooting, reliable semi auto shotgun is so popular with current and future Benelli owners.
Benelli 12 Gauge Super Black Eagle® II Semi Auto shotgun - 28 Inch Barrel
This is a well made firearm. Wasn't my first benelli so I knew what to expect. Some people complain about it kicking too hard with the inertia system, but it doesn't seem to bother me. If you shoot side by side with a gas operated firearm you will notice the difference. Light and slim, easy to point and always on target. Expected it to require some break in period so I fired 300 rounds.. no jams or malfunctions. Simple design and very easy to disassemble and clean.

Kills on one end, cripples on the other
Being a port side shooter (left handed) there isn't many gun manufacturers to select from. Yeah I got a 1100 and an 870 but for a top end piece the Benelli is the way to go. What I have to say has nothing special to do with the gun being right or left handed. The SBE is a solid well built shotgun. The finish is well done with no flaws. The gun shoulders perfect, comes right up and provides a quick site picture. I mainly only waterfowl hunt and wanted to step up from a 3" to a 3 1/2" shotgun. Though pricey the Benelli seems to be the benchmark of high end shotguns. The gun is light in comparison to my 1100 and the felt recoil is well it gets your attention. After 1 and 1/2 boxes of 3 1/2's on a sea duck trip I passed the gun along to my son and needed to take a break.

I think you mean Remington Versa Max. The Benelli costs more but in my opinion is the superior firearm. Try to shoot both before deciding. If thats not an option at least go to a gunshop and handle both, shoulder and point them to compare.
