Back when everyone thought that the pump action shotgun couldn’t be improved, the Benelli Nova Pump proved otherwise. Completely original and innovative, the 12-gauge pump incorporates a polymer stock and lightweight receiver into a single unit for unsurpassed strength and weather resistance. Italian styling and high-tech ergonomics make the gun not only pleasing to look at, but a delight to hold and handle. Distinctive grooves on the pistol grip and forend in place of conventional checkering provides a positive gripping surface and complements the innovative engineering of the Nova Pump. With dual-action bars and rotary head locking lugs, the Nova 12-gauge shotgun handles anything from target loads to 3-1/2 Inch magnums. Realtree MAX-4™ finish.

Most Reliable Shotgun on the Market I've had my Nova for 6 years and have put it through the worst conditions imaginable while hunting ducks. No matter how wet, cold, or dirty it gets, it always cycles three rounds. It has outperformed 870's, A5's, SBE's, and many more. I always hear people complain about their gun not cycling shells, but I have fired thousands of rounds through my Nova and have never had it jam or anything. At 500 dollars, you're making a mistake buying anything else. December 17, 2014
awesome gun I have had a nova pump with a 28" barrel for 4 years now. I have never had a problem with this gun, and I am a duck hunter who is not easy on my gun. Nothing beats the reliability of a pump action shotgun for duck hunting in harsh conditions, and the nova is %100 up to the task. This gun is extremely simple to disassemble and clean, requiring no tools as the magazine cap also functions as a pin punch. While it is a little on the heavy side, the reliability cant be beat, especially for the money. This gun also shoulders and shoots very well. This is a great gun for a serious duck hunter who doesn't want to break the bank and wants extreme reliability in harsh conditions. March 18, 2014
Great Gun Bought this gun for turkey hunting and I have even shot skeet with it after changing out the choke tube and have not had it jam one time even with low brass shells November 5, 2012
solid best buy in its price range. amazingly tight pattern with 000 buckshot and the factory full choke. it cycles easily and shoulders well. ergonomics are much better than the competition. its light and recoil is pretty harsh with heavy loads. I had to buy an aftermarket choke to get a usable pattern with turkeyshot. May 15, 2012

A:
There is some confusion as to if you are referring to full choke or cylinder choke. Cylinder would be good for rifled slugs. However, firing a slug through a full choke would likely bulge the barrel and ruin it.

A:
The nova is a bit heavier than most shotguns in its class, so the kick isn't as bad as some, but it's still got a pretty good bit of recoil.

A:
The amount of recoil will depend on what load you are shooting, if shooting Magnum Turkey Loads it does have some recoil but nothing that is going to cause you to flinch, if shooting bird shot there is very little recoil
