Sturdy, well built battery charge gauge. I needed to monitor three separate battery banks, and this does the trick plus room to add another bank later on if I need it.
Any electric instrument like this should be mounted away from any possible water intrusion. It is not meant to be water proof or water resistant. I mounted mine on an interior bulkhead and expect years of service out of it. Wiring was straight forward.

I added this to my bass boat and wish I had done it years ago. Easy to install and use. I would recommend this to be used on any multi battery machinery/vehicle.

My boat has three batteries, one each for the 2 drive engines and one for the genset. Through the years I have had starting problems come up when one, or more, batteries are bad, suuprise. This gauge will show the percent of charge of each battery before you leave the dock. You must check the batteries before you start the engine(s) to get an accurate reading. If the charge is less than 50% you should charge the battery. If the battery doesn't take a full charge, then its bad. The owner's manual describes what and how to use the guage.
I'm giving this guage 4 stars only because it can not show the battery's condition, which is a whole nother test. You must do a load test or use a hydrometer to determine the battery's condition.

"This is a great item! I purchased the 4-battery version. Really comes in handy to know what kind of charge the 3 batteries in my boat have before I head to the launch.
Be aware, this item only has short wire leads. You will need to purchase wire and splices to tie to the batteries.
The installation was fairly easy. It does come with a template, because you will need to cut out a decent size hole to mount the item.
Another thing to note. I tried it on some different style batteries. If strictly a deep-cycle, it will show a 100% charge. If it is a dual-purpose, after doing a small initial draw after charging, I am showing about 80%. On strictly a cranking battery after doing a small initial draw after charging, I am showing about 60%. The unit is not faulty, it just appears to be calibrated to show a 100% charge on a strictly deep-cycle battery.
BEWARE - the face is made out of a cheap plastic. I scuffed it right after I mounted it when I tried to wipe it with a 100% cotton shirt. Also, the solder job was very poor. 2 of the wires had strands that were not soldered well, and were shorting out to other leads. Simple fix, but should not have had to do it on a brand new item. If it wasn't for these things, I would have given it 5 stars."
