I work security and I'm on my feet 9 hrs a day. My son is an EMT and wears the same boot. I always wait before I make an opinion on anything but after wearing these Bates Delta boots, I am very pleased with the purchase. Very comfortable out of the box, and after wearing a few weeks they are even better. I use a high quality shoe cream/polish on them and they are easy to shine and always look professional. The Bates Delta series line of boots have an inside knowledge of what is needed and what works while on duty!

The boot is a duty/military design, & I think the sole would be too thin for digging with a shovel for a long period of time.

These are rubber soled boots. You may need a good hard leather sole to get maxiumum wear. These are not 'construction' boots.
