Fine tune your lure for the best possible results! The Bass Pro Shops Thump N' Deal Swimbait can be tuned to enhance its action right out of the package or after a fish is caught. To tune the lure, turn it over and look straight down the belly from the head to the tail. Look for any bends in the bait, and then use your hands to bend that curve in the opposite direction. Re-examine the bottom of the body from head to tail again, and repeat the process until the lure is perfectly straight. Make a test cast and if the lure runs off to either side, bend the tail section away from the direction that the lure is turning. Continue tuning until the lure swims straight with a slight side-to-side wobble. Creating a slight concave bend in the belly can enhance XPS Thump N' Deal’s wobble.

The Thump N' Deal performs best when a steady retrieve is applied with an occasional twitch or pause to trigger a following fish to strike.

Muskies often follow lures and can be triggered to strike at the boat by executing a proper figure 8 maneuver. Smoothly transition your rod tip below the water’s surface, draw a wide "L" along and away from the boat, curve back toward the boat, and complete a figure 8 in the water. Make wide, slower turns and speed up on the straight-aways. Strikes typically occur after a fish builds up speed on the straight-away and catches up on the turn. If a strike occurs, try to set the hook back against the fish’s momentum. Some anglers disengage the spools on their baitcasting reels and use their thumbs for spool tension to have more control over a hooked fish. If a fish continues to track the lure without striking, gradually increase overall speed until the fish loses interest or strikes. Repetition and muscle memory are major keys to this technique. Performing the maneuver after every cast increases the odds of successful execution when a fish appears.

The XPS Thump N' Deal’s subtle action is terrific for clear water applications. The XPS Thump N' Deal can also be very effective when slow trolled behind the boat.

Outstanding value plus outstanding performance—yours with XPS lures from Bass Pro Shops.
