I'm very pleased with this cleaner. It cleans reels very well. It even took some nasty hard grease off of one of my spinning reels.

Reel Saver Cleaner is great for reels, but it also brings the luster back to my rods. Get's everything off without hurting the finish. Follow that up with a buff of the Reel Saver lube and it looks new.
Always eats up the salt crystals and dried up seaweed. Doesn't hurt my hands either, and it gets the fish stink out.

Sure, I use it while fishing. Takes a few seconds and I've never taken the line off to apply it.Details:Â
I have heard of using denatured alchohol what does this cleaner product actually do? what would be the best lube for bearings? what about grease and oil? when would you use lube, grease, and oil? any recommendations? Thanks,

I dont use any type of cleaner. I just keep my reels out of water and sand. The grease should be applied to the handle knob bushing and the little worm gear for the line guider. Oil should be used for the bearings and internal bushings if it has any. Should never put grease on bearings.A:Â
I have used denatured alcohol on firearms, as an after-treatment when there is strong solvent residue on metal, but for all-purpose use on fishing reels, Reel Saver cleaner is gentle and effective at cleaning up and prepping the surfaces for the oil or light grease. the difference is just whether you prefer an oily finish or the grease is drylike. It looks like the same performance, and I know they deliver corrosion protection that no other low viscosity reel lube can, and its safe. And cold temp - the best!Top 10 Contributor
