Why call them Extreme? The word “Extreme” is somewhat overused these days, so with these rods, we’ve tried to stay true to the official definition, which is (according to Webster’s Dictionary) “exceeding the ordinary, usual, or expected.” We have packed every possible ultra-high-end feature into the strongest, most profoundly sensitive package, and still kept your investment under $100!
Here’s what you get: We start out with an immensely powerful yet feather-light 60-million-modulus Powerwall IM9 graphite blank, then wrap the butt section with a new diamond weave carbon fiber to enhance lifting power. We top the blank with virtually frictionless, mirror-polished Fuji aluminum oxide guides, and we finish the blank with the most durable clear-coat available. The grips are turned from ultra-premium-grade cork, with our exclusive PowerHump handle to aid in balance and enhance fish-turning power. The full-contact, Soft Touch reel seat puts your fingers directly on the blank so you can feel even the softest bite. The result is a fishing rod that is farthest removed from the ordinary, that is anything but the usual suspect, and that far exceeds what you expect from a rod at this price point. By definition, these rods truly are extreme! Three piece travel rods include cordura covered travel case and nylon rod sock.PowerHump Handles:
Our specially contoured, premium cork handle design gives you enhanced leverage and an increased sense of confidence during the battle!Fuji Aluminum Oxide Guides:
Polished to a mirror-like, friction-free finish. Extremely durable; precisely spaced for perfect line flow.Full Contact Soft Touch Reel Seat:
Lightweight, rock-solid reel seat locks your reel in place, and the blank-thru construction puts your fingers in direct contact with the blank for the utmost vibration transmission.

I bought this rod in store due to such high ratings online. I am not COMPLETELY disappointed with the rod, however, it snapped up top on the FIRST fish I caught. It was not an "operator" error, I was shocked when I heard the snap.
Still brought in a 5 lb bass despite the snap, but after spending so much money i was pretty bummed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by JSarge Good Rod Poor position of the hook holder
I have purchased two BPS spinning rods in the last year first one was the Extreme and the other was the Carbon lite. Extreme is a good rod so far except for the hook holder. Both of these rods have a little wire hook holder built into the right side of the rod just above the handle. If you look at other high end rods this hook is on the left side of the rod so the line does not get hooked on it upon retrieval which happens almost every time I retrieve my lure quickly while dock fishing. In my opinion this needs to be moved to the left side in the future.

Rated 1 out of 5 by daved00m Extremely terrible.
After looking at St.Croix rods, I decided to try these BPS Extreme rod in order to save a few dollars. I purchased a Extreme 6'6 Medium Action rod from the Baltimore location. Today I took it out for the first time. Was Texas rigging and caught two one pound bass. I hooked up with a 3 and a half pounder and as I was pulling it ashore, the rod tip snapped like that!! Thank god I had a backup rod in the truck. This is the second BPS brand rod I have purchased this year that's rod tip has snapped from a small bass. Will never buy a BPS brand rod again!!!!!

by yellowgoldwing Very sorry to report 7' medium Extreme spinning
I own two Bass Pro Extreme spinning rods nearly 20 years old. I couldn't be happier with these rods. Since they have performed so well over the years, I asked my wife to buy me a new one for a Christmas present 2013 which she did. On the first trip out on March 2014, the last 4" of the rod tip broke on the 2nd smallmouth I caught. Bass Pro promptly replaced the rod hassle-free. This past Saturday on Memorial weekend, I was once again smallmouth fishing the New River in Virginia. Again, on the 2nd smallmouth caught, the rod tip of the newly replaced rod broke in the same identical place. I do not know what is going on with this current batch of Extreme spinning rods, but I find it more than just a coincidence that 2/2 7' medium action spinning rods broke in the same identical place the first time each rod was used. Something going on with these new batch of Extreme rods regarding quality control or something. Something definitely amiss....I am very sorry to report this, but I thought Bass Pro and customers should know.
